Lens advice please

I'm looking at getting a Canon 400d and need some lens advice.

The shots I am hoping to take will be mostly action (Karate and flyball) not at the same time

I assume the kit lens wont handle these situations so another lens(es) would be needed, I can't justify paying the earth for one but also don't want to make do either.

How far away will the action be? Will it be outdoors or indoors? What sort of budget do you have?

Karate will be indoors in a sports hall roughly 50m square

Flyball is mostly outdoors up to 50m away

Budget around £250 ish

The kit lens is not as bad as alot of people make out, but if you are set on changing, then buy a body only.

Loads of threads on here regarding a replacement.

But worth looking at
