Lens advice please!!

I am considering the purchase of a brand new, boxed,discontinued Tamron 28-105 F4-5.6. I shoot mainly landscape and currently use a Sony A300. I have read some good reports about the lens but wondered if any of you guys actually use one and what you think of it. It's not a lot of money at £70 but my budget is ultra tight!!

Sounds very cheap. Too good to be true?

Does it actually function 100% on your camera? Is it auto focus?

Will 28mm be wide enough for you?

Pick up something more regarded, like tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 or Tokina 16-50mm f/2.8 to replace your 2 standard zooms (which I know are not the sharpest lenses on the planet).
