Wondering about if this lens would work as a walk about lens, old model but appears light weight.Thinking about adding it to the Canon 450D crop body, often pay a visit to my local WILDFOWL WETLAND CENTRE,
feed up with carrying Canon 7D/Sigma 150-500mm OS around was looking for another option especially light weight.
Was thinking maybe someone had this in the past or may still have it,any feedback would be appreciated.
GEORGE.

I had one for a while.

It was a perfectly acceptable lens. Sharper than the equivalent 75-300mm released at the same time but not a stellar performer by current standards. If budget is a concern it will do the job but I can't help thinking the new 55-250mm IS lenses will give similar results.

Many thanks Richard for your kind responce actually have the 55-250mm IS [not STM] but finding it tends to hunt on focussing.

Have decided on the Canon 100-300mm Lens EF USM ordered from London Camera exchange, just hope have not shot myself in the foot.

TBH with a bit of focus breathing you might not find the range any better than the 55-250 IS (which I used to have and thought it was an excellent lens).

Thanks for responce Jim actually prefer the USM motor on the 100MM-300MM also element does not rotate.Found the 55-250is hunted a lot was was quite frustrating.
Have not been impressed generally with the micro type motor which Canon seem to place in most of there lens.
Maybe not moving with the times will soon find out.
