Yes
The Lencarta kit comes with a wireless trigger
I guess there's no reason why it shouldn't work with any flashgun

my question is - does the receiver need to be plugged into the mains?
I know I could try it, but if I can get the info here - there's less risk of me frying something!

The one that comes with the ElitePro needs to be plugged into the mains
The one that comes with the Safari is battery powered
Both will work with any studio flash. They will also work with any hotshoe flash, in manual mode only, provided that the flash has the standard small audio jack socket fitted, or if you can convert it.

thanks Garry
just need to get a an adaptor for the plug then!

btw, the kit comes with what looks like an audio sized adaptor
is the standard adaptor meant to fit into it - mine doesn't seem to?

From memory it has a 6mm (I think) adapter fitted to it - just remove the adapter and you're left with the small audio adapter. This allows it to be used with older flash heads that have the larger jack socket
