I need a set of lights but funds are low as there are a few lenses on my 'to get' list which have priority.

Have seen two sets of lighting which are in my price range which will make do until the boss of the house allows me some extra money for a set of bowens.

These are Lencarta 300 (or 200s) or Lastolite Lumen8 400's

Can anyone help me with my choice.

I bought the 3 set of Lencarta 200 smartflash and I'm very pleased with them. Had them for about a year now and no problems at all.

Now I'm only a beginner at studio work, so don't look too much into the quality of my work. :D

Only had my Lencartas a couple of weeks and my only wish is that I had got them sooner!! Great value.

Lencarta all the way...

They are much better it terms of performance and I'm sure I'm not the only one who will recommend them....

looked into this now and seem convinced that the Lencarta kit seems to be the way, although can get the Lastolite a little cheaper.

The Lastolite's are more powerful but the nail in the coffin for me is that the bulbs have to be changed by a Lastolite technician, who are based in Leicester.

As another possibility, has anyone used Interfit EXD 300 or 400 units?

I'd recomend elemental (studio-flash.co.uk) as its what I use for mains powered gear and its nice quality

If you are on a budget but still want quality then I reckon the two prominent makes here are Lencarta and Elemental.

I've never used the Lencarta ones but there's plenty of good reviews and support on this site. The Elemental ones I've got are top quality (my review). Here's a quick shot done with them:
