LENCARTA LIGHT PACKAGES...200W OR 300W...?

Ok...you might have guessed the subject...

I already have a set of 150W cheaper lights (non-s fit) that I intend to be used mainly for background lighting...

So...as my main front lights for use with 150cm octo... 60" brollies...etc...would the 200Ws do...or do I need to go up to 300W...or 600W...it will be a small studio...and Id like to be sensible...as thinking about a a beauty dish and maybe a triflector to finish off my modifiers...

Thanks for all who help...or give their opinions/advice...

Go for the EP 300 if you can afford it. Always better to have power in reserve than having to push it, particularly when using modifiers.

You'd get away with 200 fine (especially because the big octas are nice pushed in close) but if you have the money the 300s would be good.

It's always nice to have extra power, as long as its controllable with a good variable output range. But I have to say that in nearly 40 years I've never needed more than (4x) 200w/s mono's, though the largest thing's I've ever taken studio pictures of have been a pair of girls draped over custom bikes.

Depending on setup, you might also want to use the more powerful lights to blow the background. I'd get the 300s, better to have spare (actually I'd get more than that, but that's not what you asked).

I use 2 smart-flash's to blow the background with no probs on a Hi-lite, it really does depend how much space you have and how large a group you may be taking photos of, but you should get away with smart-flash's for just home or small studio work without any problems :)
