Now in the very near future I am looking to purchase a smartflash fit from Lencarta, :) not too sure yet if I want 2 or 3 heads, now forgive me for being a little thick here but how is a 3 head kit the same price as 2 x 2 head kit, what am i missing here??

I agree, it does look a bit odd and I'll speak to the boss about it - maybe the price of the 2 head kit needs to go up a bit...:)

It's because there's a massive discount of £203 on each kit but any extra items added to it are at normal prices, so a 3 head kit is a 2 head kit with an extra head at normal price, plus stand and any accessories added. The same principle applies to a 4 head kit, although of course it's much cheaper to buy 2 x 2 head kits

Buy two two head kits and sell your spare bits... Alternatively keep them as you never know when a spare head will come in handy. If you have 2 lights on the bg you only have one fir the subject..usually enough but you never know.

I assume 3 is better than 2 but why? Can you explain Garry?

Garry's setting up for Focus ATM and I don't believe he surfs the forums from his phone ;) so if you don't mind I'll have a go at answering....

3 gives you more options. 2 on the back, one on the front. 2 on the front, one on the back, 2 on the left one on the right etc.

USED CAREFULLY more lights can give a more 3 dimensional look to the subject. But there's plenty you can do with 2 lights. And loads you can do with 1. First picture here http://www.frankdoorhof.com/site/?p=1286 for example is 1 light and I often use 1 light when on location.

If budget is tight then buy fewer lights and spend your money on decent quality and modifiers - you can always add later. If you want a one stop solution then the kit builder will save you some money.
