Someone at Lencarta had the bright idea of making a video of my perfectly understandable mistakes:)
All that I can say is that no humans (or videographers) were injured in the making of this video... yet:)

He deserved that hammer to the head at the end
Are these usually after a liquid lunch? :D

I have a lot of vices - but drinking isn't one of them - so everything that I do wrong in the videos is just down to simple incompetence:)

Thanks for creating and posting this. Its strangely encouraging to watch as 'rockstar' photographers sell so many glossy perfect training videos - its so nice to see behind the scenes and see normal human flaws and behaviour and not endless glossy perfection. Plus it was funny :-)

Respect to Gary as it shows how much time and effort he puts into his tutorials and that he has a very generous sense of humour.

Well, everyone else laughs at me so I may as well laugh at myself too:)

You're not wrong about many of the so-called training videos, most of which seem to be produced simply to sell products - either physical products or training courses. Personally I don't see much value in videos that play down the technical input to the point where they don't actually explain what needs to be done, and which also display finished photos that have been so heavily 'shopped that they hide the faults which are obviously created by the lighting arrangement that have been used...

We do struggle to make our own videos both useful and entertaining, basically we need someone who is a much better presenter than myself, but at the mo we simply don't have anyone else available so I get "volunteered" for the job... But there is a built-in limitation with videos, so much of what is happening in the background needs to be left out - our way of dealing with this is to also post a tutorial, which goes into far more detail for those who want it. And it seems to work, because the tutorial viewing figures are so much higher than the video viewing figures.

You come across as human, realistic and normal, not as a glossy slippery 'rockstar', which I hope you see as a big compliment. I think your presentations are really good, very real world and it would be a sad loss to see you move on from making the presentations.
