Hi guys looking for a good walkabout lens for 7D for around £350 what do you suggest

canon 28 f1.8 prime or 15-85mm second hand they are pretty much the best for your budget (if you dont have a 50 1.8 that could be a good addition too especially if you get the 28 f1.8 too)

From what I've read about them I'd ave thought the 15-85 would be the perfect choice and £350 is just about right for a used one.
It's definitely next on my list of purchases.

The Sigma 18-200 won't be great on the 7D as the camera can be quite unforgiving towards lower end lenses.

I used the 18-200 on my 400D and it was fine to a point but too much of a compromise on my 7D.

I've got a 15-85 and it's a cracking lens! Well worth saving a little extra cash for ;)

What lenses do you currently have (other than the 50mm) ?

What are you after from the lens (other than a general walk about) ?

Do you want a fast lens - Tamron 17-50 F2.8 gets good following and is within your budget. The Canon 15-85IS gives you more of a focal range to use...

If you pixel peep or print images the size or a barn door maybe but view and / or print at more normal sizes and the 7D + lower end lens should work no better and no worse than any other reasonably modern camera.

For example, I have some cheapo Zuiko lenses that seem to work very well on my 5D as does an old cheapo Canon zoom I have. Lens specification and the overall look produced are more important in most print/viewing instances than finite sharpness IMVHO. If you don't print barn sized images and can avoid the temptatio to pixel peep :D

Cheers guys gone for the tamron 28-270 which ive had before used in florida and was happy with that
