Yes
Got myself a nice Leica at last. Very near mint 111g with 50mm 3.5 Elmar also mint. Been thinking about getting one for ages but just couldn't see one at the right price.
Phoned up a mate for a bit of advice on screw mount Leica's to discover he was disposing of his collection, Was round to his house like a flash, only problem was which one!! Looks as if the depressed prices on 35mm has even affected these quality bits of kit.
Now to get some film.

Sweet, let's see it then..

Do Leica's explode if you put Poundland Agfa Vista in them? Terribly infra dig, doncha know! ;)

No of course not, that's just silly.
Oskar Barnacks ghost comes and fiddles with your dangly bits in the night. Thought everyone knew that.
Photos will be forthcoming.

I didn't know Agfa Vista could be used for infra dig photography. Can it be used for ultra violent as well (if you have the right filters)? :D

I read the all-caps title of this thread as if you were just shouting "LEICA!". Which I guess I would be, too, if I'd just bought one.

I hardly shoot any 35mm. Don't particularly like rangefinders. But I'm drawn to LEICA like a moth to a flame. Maybe one day..

Just don't ever get to handle one or that's it .Hooked. There is no going back.

Got to be honest, the only Leica I've shot with was an M2 with 5cm 3.5 Elmar and, whilst it's a nice enough camera, I don't feel like every other 35mm camera I've used since was any worse than it. On camera styling alone, I think a later M5/M6 with 35/50 would be nicer to use but the pretty extortionate prices "because it's a Leica" have always put me off enough to prevent any hefty credit card bills.

Edit: Apologies, I should have said that I don't mean to take any shine off your purchase, new toys are always well received :0)

Apart from @gazmorton2000 apparently (see classifieds). I guess it either gets you or it doesn't?

 I love the actual camera, but I think i prefer the bigger negatives I'm getting from MF to be honest. But I am having a re think of the whole film thing at the moment. :(

Don't lose heart, Gareth!

As a 35mm they're dead nice, but I don't really shoot 35mm anymore. M6 with a 28mm was my sweet spot though, that or a 50 1.5

Gareth. I fear we are talking at cross purposes. You are obviously much more of a photographer than I will ever be.
You are including end result quality, I am really talking mainly about a beautifully engineered object. I am sure there are many many cameras with the ability to knock spots off any screw lens Leica when it comes to image quality. But few are built with such precision.

I've always wanted a Leica, but never been in a position to afford one - or the lenses - and I don't realistically see that changing. No matter, enjoy it Peter!

TBH, I think it's the superb engineering and the history behind them that appeals to me, more than the camera as a photographic tool, but that's a good enough reason for coveting one, for me anyway...

just paste the copied bit from Photobucket - i.e. - into the "reply" box - no need to paste it into the "add picture" box...

I do thank you kind sir.

For the ones who wanted a photo of my new 111g.
Just put a film through it using all of the fstops from 3.5 up. Remarkably the speeds are spot on except for the 1,000 which looks to be a bit fast. Also and a surprise is that the lens looks to be just as sharp at 3.5 as it is at f11.
This was only a crude test and the only one it's getting "it works ok"
Now to get some film. Thanks for looking.
