Hi,

I was in touch with a well known Leica dealer earlier in the week about an ex demo Leica M8. He promised to keep it for me. I rang him this afternoon to pay for it and guess what?? He had sold it to someone else.

Don't you just hate it when this happens??

The search resumes.

Are they still having the sensor problems with the M8?
I'd still risk it - another camera I'd love to have. *sigh*
 
A mate of mine has an M8 and to combat the sensor problem you get an IR filter in a thread size of your choice, he likes it but says the image quality isnt what it should be, it suffers with certain colours quite badly i think its blues looking brown, but it depends upon their shade. There is also lots of pattern noise, on clothing.
But saying all that he still uses it as his walk round camera, and keeps his 1Dsmk2 and digital medium format for all his fine art.
He put some tape over the bright Leica logo as it draws a lot of unwanted attention to him when out and about.

Ah still wet behind the ears.

When you walk around with approx 5K worth of camera and a big red logo advertising the fact on your own, its better to have a bit of tape on your Leica than be dead, some people round here would knife you for a Nikon and thats getting low..

With the logo covered it just looks like a cheap film camera, and nobody wants them, not even the thieving scum bags, as it wont get them a bag of their latest fix.

Only Ewan knows for sure but It looks like a direct comment to what I posted.
 
There are some around Doug ... :thinking: ... even found one ex-stock on Amazon but it depends what your budget is I suppose ... :shrug:

I didn't think it was. I always think of threads like, well, threads: if you reply without quoting, you're replying to the OP, if you reply with a quote then you're replying to that quote in particular.

Viewing forums in threaded mode makes it more explicit, but for some reasons TP doesn't have the option (which is strange, since it's a vB default).

Whoops - Sorry!

I didn't read the thread properly. I meant the guy that said to Doug he'd hold the camera for him and then sold it to somebody else.
