Is it a bad thing that I'm 26 and I still find myself playing with the stuff when the kids are in bed...No, it's great!:naughty: Been playing all afternoon with my old kits I had when I was a kid, but this time with my own kids. It's completely different to all the new stuff, a lot harder to build with and a different building "style". Trying to get used to it. The kids want a working excavator for the morning:runaway: Feels like I'm 6 again and not 26.

I can't wait to get my old technic kits out! A few more years till my kids are old enough tough :-(

Funnily enough, I went to our storage unit in Joburg - where a lot of our stuff has been sitting for the last few years - with my daughter yesterday. We came across the Lego Technic kits my mother brought back from the UK years ago, when my kids were much younger. My grandson is still a baby but we'll pass them on to him when he's old enough.

6hours at it last night and I finished the radio controlled excavator (model No. 8043). I modified it to take the bigger motors and lights. I'm going to do the 8275 dozer later on with the kids. I bought it about two years ago when it was £300, now its over £700 on Amazon. They hold their value these kits, not that I plan on getting rid of them anyway because the kids will have it all when they can do it themselves. At the moment I have to build everything and watch them to make sure they don't eat any:) Not that I'm complaining though lol, good fun.

I still buy it...

I still do:banana: The new kits are completely different to the old ones I had when I was a kid. No studded parts anymore and massive increase in price. I have the old barcode truck and it was only £100 back in 1997. If it was still made now they would probably charge about £300 for it.

Last big set was the scania truck with the arm on the back

Aye I've heard the Unimog is highly recommended and a good build. Have been looking at it also.

Finished building my Unimog couple of weeks ago, great piece of kit. I built the 8043 excavater a while ago as well as the the 9396 helicopter.....quite fancy getting Tower Bridge next, but it's a bit pricy if you can find one:))

I've still got some (i'm 48), I fished it all out last year after seeing some youtube vids of compressed air motors people had built. There were some pneumatic parts from an excavator in there and I managed to build a working motor with no plans. I was dead chuffed with it.
I try and encourage the kids to be creative but they're more interested in tablets and Facebooks.

Same with my kids. My eldest boy who's four loves playing on my Ipad, but I don't like it. I'd rather him play with something that takes thinking and imagination. Lego Technic used to keep me entertained for hours at a time when I was a kid. My parents were buying me kits made for 12-16year olds when I was only 5. I still remember it all, I'd play inside for a few hours with Lego, go outside in the woods for a while and back in for Lego before bed lol. Don't get me wrong I don't want to be strict and tell him he can only play with Lego or go and play outside lol, the Ipad is helping him with his school work, I just don't like him using it too much.

My daughter's just starting to get into it now. It's great!

Went to see the Lego movie with my eldest. Came home and the first thing I did was look up lego on Amazon and Ebay.

Yeah, my daughter wants to see that too. I just need to find the time to take her!
