Lego - do you ever grow out of it?

My 4 year old switched from Duplo to Lego recently.

I'm in my element :D We're having a day shopping today and i'm most excited about going to the pick n mix wall at the Lego store.

Anyone else a big kid like me?
 
I was gutted when my older brother gave away my vast collection of Lego to his friend's son.
I sulked for weeks.
I was 24 :lol:
 
No never grow out of it....I love it...

FisherTechnic was even better than Meccano, and I hooked that up to early 80's computers with my soldering iron...But Lego is still pretty cool, very portable, and easy to use and share...I've used it to explain Agile development and all sorts...
 
Lego is also a good means of investing money. People buy some of the bigger more expensive sets, kept unopened and box in good condition they can be sold on at a decent profit once they have gone out of production.

I agree, it's like gold! Holds its price very well. A friend who is an avide Ebayer, puts small bags of Lego online and it sells like hot cakes. How I wish I still had my childhood toys....Lego by the bucket load, Action Men, Lead Soldiers, and Dinky Cars. All worth more now than they did then.

I think pretty much everyone likes it when it gets to the stage where their kids are into Lego. The annoying thing is I just wish I'd kept ours from when I was a kid. Might have to ensure we keep our children's Lego when they grow out of it (obviously in case there are any grandchildren, not so I can have a sneeky play :-) )
 
No, still great - even the basic blocks and you build what you want.
Although there are some great (and expensive) kits out there.
 
When a person is tired of Lego he or she is tired of life...
 
It does certainly hold its value.

Today's Lego purchases were:
Store and sort head from Amazon
2 large base plates
Large pot of bricks from the pick n mix
3 characters from the make your own character stand

I try not to spoil him but can't help myself when I see the Lego logo. Plus it keeps his attention for a lot longer than any of his other toys.

Compared only to 3 pin plug..........But the lego brick has it...

On the subject of lego....ACE and always has been in my book.......surprising how many kids are unable to build a model from start to finish......

The long pin in the middle fleshy arch of the foot is worse imho - However a lego model small one can be excruciating............I tells ya!

I don't remember having any interest in Lego when I was growing up, but my own kids had quite a lot. We kept it, and my grandson will get it when he's a bit older.

Are building stuff from scratch ?
I've got a box of misc lego bits you are more then welcome to if he'd like them

We are still mainly on duplo, but this is what normally happens:

Start building something with sons (4.5 and 1.5 old) - they move on to something else after while. I remain in the middle of the floor building something 'for them'. My wife comes into the room and laughs at me.
 
You never grow out of Lego, for my birthday this year I was given the Lego mini by my wife, I'm 43 :D

I absolutely love it ;)

Yes we're building up our collection. We bought him the giant box of bricks for his birthday.

It's not a huge amount,
It's got all sorts in it wheels, hinged bits etc. might come in useful as he/you gets more adventurous with
building ;)
If you want it PM your address.and I'll send it on, doesn't weigh that much
