Yes
was wondering last night , how do all you left handers find shooting with basically right-handed slr's? :-)

Took a while but got used to it in the end. Seems fairly natural that my 'better' hand controls focal length and focus and steadies the camera while my weaker hand just spins dials and presses buttons. Think I'd have more of an issue if I was left eyed rather than right...... Would have to pull some serious faces to get comfy that way round.......

Scissors on the other hand are still (and always will be) an issue for me....... Much easier just to get someone else to do it !!

No problem with left-handed snappery. Though when I broke my left wrist a while back, I had a helluva time trying to brush my teeth right handed - and let's not, ummm, visit the toilet...

i could imagine that for right handed , using a left handed camera could be more difficult for us though , seems the left handed have to get 'used' to things that are designed left handed lol

I'm left handed, but never gave it a second's thought. I just put the camera up to my left eye and shoot away. I think it would now seem a bit odd to use my left hand for the shutter button.

Supposedly, Ken Rockwell has a prototype left-handed Nikon F100.

never causes me a problem ....niggled a bit when i first started but kinda got used to it :)

I'm very left handed and have no problems at all. Tbh I think us "lefties" cope better than a "righty" would having to work left handed. Probably down to the serious lack of left handed items like screwdrivers and knives!!!

I can't say that I have ever thought about it . I suppose that since learning to play the piano my right hand it used to working just as much as my left . Even typing this I seem to use my right more than left  I tend to find that my left hand is more dominant only in certain tasks .

I have a helluva time. But that's because my left handedness is due to a disability that affects my right hand. Like most of the other lefties here I just get on with it though. You'll never see me shooting without the neck strap on though.....

Never thought about it TBH, I just picked up the camera from day one and got on with it

I'm a lefty and never really thought about a camera being right handed

I think as others have said, most lefties adapt to a right handed World 'cos they have to!

Scissors are a right handed affair for me, as is using a knife and fork, although my nan (bless her) still puts them round the wrong way when setting the table because I left handed

I confused the hell out of a tennis coach when I was about 8 or 9 because I used to swap hands depending on the shot I wanted to play

so it seems that most lefties cope pretty well in a mainly right handed world ? excellent! i think ned flanders ought to think about left handed camera's in his left-orium :-)

I am left handed, but right eyed and have never had an issue with using my camera, I have also gotten used many right hand biased items such scissors etc, I am vitally ambidextrous with most tasks having broken my left wrist when I was younger, I can fly fish left or right handed

I'm a left hander and got used to using right handed cameras quite easily, however I'm also a left eyer, so my nose is always mashed against my 20D's little screen. Tried using my right eye but it just feels weird. :'(

p.s: Left handed scissors ftw! My sister got me a pair years ago and they've been a godsend!

I agree, its normal to pick up a camera and use it without thinking about it, though being left eyed is a pain with my nose squashed up to the screen bur its what you get used to!!

Us lefties are very adaptive!!

I've always been left handed and just used cameras without thinking about it - I didn't even know they were right handed. In the same way I have always used a mouse with my right hand.

Which way do you other left-handed and left-eyed togs turn the camera for portrait shots? I turn it clockwise so my nose isn't squashed against the back of the camera and my right arm is supported by my over-large tum. Of course, this means a battery grip is of limited use as I can't access the extra controls but I suppose this could be seen as a money-saving benefit....

No bother at all.

It's surprising just how much of the world is designed for right handers, I notice it most with cash machines (which always have the buttons on the right) particularly the low level ones designed for wheelchair users where my right arm would be fully extended to reach the buttons, but even those aren't really an issue.

For portrait shots I rotate the camera anti-clockwise so that the shutter button is uppermost. I've not thought about that until now but I reckon I turn it that way only because the button is easier to press.

Another lefty here - no problem with using a camera, I never gave it a thought - the two things I have a problem with are scissors and guitars!

I'm a lefty and actually think it helps as my left hand is left free (no pun intended) to steady the camera as its not fiddling around changing settings.

It is amazing how we lefties adapt as I'm a keen dart player and most chalk boards are to the left of the baord which makes chalking left handed a pain so I learned to chalk right handed.
