Dont know if this has been highlighted before.......Lee are due to release a filter holder for the famed nikon non filter friendly 14-24mm...sometime in the new year.

The worlds best wide will perhaps finally reach its potential

Lifted from Ephotozine

"Owners of this lens struggle to use filters because of its enormous bulbous front element and while some users have solved the problem with some DIY, this Lee Filters gadget will be the first production quality solution. It is due to accept 130mm width filters – graduates and some single coloured options, but not the polarizer."

Thats great to hear that they've come up with a solution.
However bad that you've got to buy not only a new holder but a whole new set of filters.

Interesting - the lack of being able to use ND Grads and ND filters (and C-Pols) has always been a big issue with this lens.

Pricewise though I'm guessing we'd be looking £300+ if not more for all the gubbins? Thats about 1/3rd the price of the awesome 17-35 AF-S?...

Wonder if this is fully usable on full frame at 14mm?

Shame no C-Pols - being able to reduce water and vegetation glare is very useful, even though you wouldn't want to use it for sky shots.

Will though it be usable on water and vegetation ? If the sky reveal the patchy C-PL effect then so will be the effects on water and vegetation so what use would that be on such a wide end?

You can turn the sky almost black with a mis-used C-Pol on wide, but it doesn't have that sort of effect on vegatation or water reflections.

You can use a C-Pol on a very wide angle if you shoot in portrait orientation, that way you don't get such apparent sky polarisation - portrait orientation is ideal for waterfalls as well.

I see. I thought main reason for not using it on wide is not because the sky turn black - this can be done on normal lenses as well. I thought it is because the polarisation effect is not uniform - it just cannot cover the whole area at wide angles. That surely affect not only sky but vegetation and the rest as well. I see though how it can be useful on wide in portrait orientation where you can have the polarisation effect on less than the whole of the frame.
