Hi all

Now I went to Keswick last night and stubbled upon a shop / gallery and the photographer is called Lee Chapman I was wondering if anyone Knows hid website? As i can not find it. Also does anyone know if the book is worth getting?

Thanks all

Google for Lee Chapman Photography gives http://www.leechapman81.co.uk/ but I don't think it is the one you were after as he's only a student, and not into landscape

No this is not him, I did a google search. Sorry I forgot to mention that before. This guy has a book. Never mind I thought someone out therewould know if he had a site. Looks like he may not have one then. Abit strange though as he has his own shop and book you would think he would have a website

Looks like this man is hard to find or should i say hard to find his work, a real shame as his work looked amazing. If any of you guys out there live in Keswick would be nice if you could find out if he has a website.

I've spoken to him a couple of times when I've been up there (about 3 years ago) - as you say some great work

But I have to say he's not the most amiable of chaps, and seems to look down upon us digi users with disdain

Put me right off him as it's only a difference of tools :shake:

But if you are in Keswick, the gallery is well worth a look in

I was in Kewsick earlier this week and popped into Lees gallery for a browse and a chat. I disagree that he's unamiable or that he looks down on digi-users. After a good old natter, I found him to be most pleasant and extremely informative. He showed me his Ebony LF camera and taught me a lot about the nature of light and the science of photography. He is clearly a man of vast knowledge although he freely admits that he has never yet used digital and has very limited knowledge of it. A true champion of traditional large-format fine-art photography. If you go to Keswick you should definately pop in there. The work is stunning and there is also a good selection of contemporary art on sale. Highly recomended.
As for the book, yes it is worth buying. A varied selection of interesting photographs covering the Lake District. You might even get a hand-signed copy like I did.

There isnt a website here is a contact, plus they will inform you he has a book.

Christ how long were you in there.....

My own opinion when I've been in there has been one in the same light as that mentioned above by DD.

Hey Mr THX, I really love your picture "The Long Walk". The low angle works really well.

please dont be nasty about people who cant are not here to defend themselves!

thanks

Yep fantastic pictures but the gallery is nearly always shut and the once I went in he was really grumpy. I must say I agree that Pete Taskers place is the opposite - open and friendly!

Lee is a great bloke, and a true champion of large format photography. Always enjoy looking at his superb cibachromes - gallery is well worth a visit, they showcase some of the best british contemporary art and crafts alongside Lee's work. His black and white silver gelatin prints have been a real inspiration as well. Gallery is open seven days a week, but I believe they close in the winter for a period. My wife and I have always found the gallery a warm and welcoming venue. Have had a chat with Lee on many occasions, and he is a really nice, unassuming guy. Keep up the good work Lee!

Well done Mr Smith only took you 8 months since my posting in this thread

That looks more like an advert than an appraisal... Welcome to the forum Lee

I believe Chris is independant of the Chapmans.
