Leaving BT and transferring the free Flickr account

Has anyone done this before, I am having problems, I have been in touch with the flickr helpdesk but still no further forward as I am getting conflicting advice from them.

As initially advised I have created another yahoo account and went to a link provided by the flickr team,
http://www.flickr.com/account/transfer/
but as soon as I click on the link I get this response,

Yahoo! Broadband Partner users are not authorized to transfer their Flickr account to another Yahoo! ID.
:shrug:

In the last email from the helpdesk as well as the above link I was given the following warning

Please be sure that the Yahoo! ID you are adding does not already have a
Flickr account associated with it. Otherwise, the photos in that account
will be left "dangling" with no way to log in and view them once you
transfer the Yahoo! ID to a different account.:eek:



I still have my pro account despite leaving BT a few weeks ago but for how long I can continue logging in I have no idea.


I have emailed them again and I am waiting for their response.

I had a BT internet account when I lived in UK. I left UK in March 2010, my BT internet accounts still work as does my Flickr Pro account. I have no idea how long that will last for, but it's doing well so far!

Doesn't help you, but at least you know that the plug isn't pulled straight away.

Hmmm maybe I should just keep schtum then and continue getting it for free;)
 
I moved over to sky a couple of months ago, and transfered my free BT Flikr account to a paid pro one.
In a nutshell, I had to do it all on the day I ceased to be BT customer. It was all very painless, apart from having to pay the £15 or so quid.

BT in all their communications with me have never mentioned transferring my flickr account, were you told to do so?

My only concern is losing my log in and not being able to access my images, but I may have no reason for concern after reading Sara's experience.

BT didn't mention it no. I worked out that I'd loose the freebie pro account and emailed Flickr in advance.
They sent me an email with what to do on it, it just meant creating a new yahoo email, and then associating it with my flikr account. On the day BT and I parted company, I deleted my BT email from my flickr account, made the new yahoo email my 'main' email, and paid my money.
For the 20 minutes or so between BT cutting me off, and me paying up, I could only see the last 200 or so images I'd uploaded to Flickr, as soon as I'd paid, we were back to normal.

I did the swap in July, so I doubt it's changed any. It was really simple, I rang Sky, told them I wanted to move and they did everything else.
They were helpful when BT told me I needed to give Sky a reference number, which I didn't, but the BT help people didn't seem to know what they were on about.
The Sky router was set up, so it was plug in, and then set my wireless to automatically log on with it, jobs a good un!

I haven't been with BT since early 2008. Still using my Yahoo and Flickr account no problem
 
I left BT years ago. But my BT internet email address still works and I still have a free Flickr pro account.
 
It may have changed as I have had notification that to retain my BTyahoo email account I have to connect to the internet via PAYG every 90 days, no mention of the flickr account but that is attached to the email account.

I still think I should just wait and see what happens though, worst case scenario I guess is I would have my pro account cancelled and I would just have to upgrade to a paid pro account via a Yahoo email account.
 
Great!! in response to my last email prior to posting this thread the the Flckr help team have logged me out and gave me new login in instructions that do not work!!!:bang:
 
Phew...after an email back to and a reply from the so called flickr help team I have now managed to gain access to my account but have now had to pay for a pro upgrade £16 a year.....no big deal at that price but thankfully it is all sorted now.:)
 
Or so I thought until I tried to log back in this morning, it asked me to verify my password again then I get this,

You can change this whenever you want, and spaces are fine.
CREATE MY NEW ACCOUNT
