Leave gear in hotel room or bring to the beach?

I also discovered this week that the key cards you get issued in hotels have a lot of information on them, including credit card details!
Apparently they don't get wiped until they are re programmed for the next customer. So essentially sit in a draw with your details on them.
I've been told that you can't get charged for losing them so its better to keep them in your pocket and destroy them after you check out.

Complete and utter rubbish, thinking about it for 30 seconds makes you wonder what value the hotel has in programming key cards with credit card information & that would give a clue that something is not right. A simple google search should confirm the truth.

fair enough, i didnt bother checking the validity as my source of information came from a data destruction company. guess they are wrong?

How much of risk do you think it is to make such a claim without checking its validity?

Wasn't my claim, i was merely posting information given to myself, on here without checking its validity.
Read my post and you will see its not my claim.
What do you mean by risk? Are the hotel managers of mainland UK going to be outside my house with pitchforks and torches in the morning! Lol
