but canna find a colour match
answer - buy a pale tan one and dye the leather to match

so I know to order a good match....what would you call this colour.?

thanks for your help ..

Looks Like Oxblood on my monitor

If the match is incorrect you could always clean the dye off the case with methylated spirit and then dye it the same as the new dye, obviously would be better to go darker.

Closest to me on my monitor is Burgundy, however, depending on the surface and how the dye reacts eg. stays fully on surface, sinks in to top layer sinks in fully etc. it will change from how it looks on the colour chart ! The finish will depend on what treatment the leather has already had.

OXblood....thanks - I agree
I don't want to touch the actual case - it's pristine and cost mega-bucks from Japan

so experimenting on a £10 shoulder strap

I got some leather coloured a few years ago by a local leather car seat repairman. It was only a few quid, cheaper than buying the dyes and messing about myself.

well that's 2 for Burgundy - I'll try that one first

Try to ensure you get the right kind of leather for the strap, a veg tan will take a dye well, a pre dyed saddle leather less so.

Then you will need a finish to waterproof it and seal in the colour, I use Resolene. Gives a nice shine as well as protection.

Leather dye is not like applying paint and there are a bunch of factors that make colour matching difficult.
