I mentioned this in passing on the film stash thread but thought it worth asking separately, any filmies going this year?

I am going down on Tuesday and staying at the pub "Aux Portes Du Circuit" near the main circuit entrance so if anyone would like to meet up for a beer let me know.

Good luck as manual focusing does need a bit more skill compared to AF.

Manual focus can make panning easier; pre-focus on the section of track you want to capture cars or bikes in, set an aperture that gives you a decent depth across the track (watch a few laps to see where the racing line is) and press the shutter as you're panning when the target passes your focus point.

There's a few examples on my flickr page from Mallory Park, taken on an FM with 50mm lens.

My normal weapon of choice would be a Minolta Dynax 9 with a 200 2.8 but I quite fancy taking the Hasselblad this year.

Not so worried about the manual focus more the fragility of the camera as I am going down by bike. I plan to keep the Hasselblad in a rucksack on my back for the journey rather than in a tank bag to cushion the camera from the vibration (I am on a Ducati and twins do tend to vibrate more than most) so fingers crossed.

Bearing in mind the Minolta is basically bullet proof I may regret that choice but will report back on how that went in a week or two!

So not takers for a beer in Le Mans then?
