LC's 52 Shoehorns for 2016 : Week 52 - Celebration

Nice colours in the flowers and good details in the petals, well done for a phone.

Activity - the guy stands out well against the back ground and it well lit, good take on the theme

Activity, shame about the background Tim, but its certainly a nice vibrant image

Hi Tim smashing photo of that super shiny train, it looks freshly painted,
A very pretty choice of flower for Flora, I would be tempted to do a crop on that one.
Really nice lighting on your Active shot, I've no idea who he's meant to be, but he looks good against the dark background.
Cheers Susie.
The loco has been newly restored, it was out-shopped about 6 months ago.
I don't think that the flora shot could take much more cropping. The Moto G isn't a great camera
He is "One Punch Man" according to my daughter. That was probably the best place in the whole venue to take pictures, due to the darkness with down-lighters.

That is one super shot for Activity Tim - love the vibrancy and combo of the colours and the sheen on the gloves and head.
Ta Carl.

What a great costume for activity - you kept those colours really vibrant against the dark background. I might have asked him to move so that the fire exit sign wasn't above his head, but then again asking people for their photos is something I find so nerve wracking I probably wouldn't have even noticed it!
Actually, it wasn't so bad asking to take pictures at the LAGC, at these events most people want their photos taken and posted on-line.
Positioning wasn't easy, it was a bit cramped and he was in the spot I wanted as it put him directly under a light.

Hi Tim

Your image for Flora is great I have no idea what flowers they are either but its still a nice image.

Active really like the light and pose the BG although darker is still a little distracting for my but I know this was probably beyond your control.
Flora really was a PABD shot as I honestly have no interest in photographing flowers.
I was actually standing around outside my youngest's school waiting for them to come back from a week away when I looked at the border / weeds and thought "hmm, that'll do".

Hi Tim,
size - well, that’s one shiny train! Nicely exposed and brilliant colours and good point of view.
flora - for my taste a bit too bright and not contrasty enough.
activity - great shot, great light and very vibrant colours. My favourite of these three.
I agree, the shot for Active was the best of the bunch (not perfect, but the best of the 3)

Flora seems blown, nice image tho, just some slight tweaking.
Active is an interesting take, maybe would have chose a better BG
Take a look through the rest of the album that my Active shot is from, that shot really does have the best background possible. Next year I may camp out in that spot and let the Cos-players come to me (it was between the food and the bar) rather than walk around looking for non existent better locations.

Beggars can't be choosers ;)

The flowers are Geranium's and you now feel much better for that info don't you (y) Active, as said pity about the BG but I do find it very amusing he's like a cut price superhero

Active ... what a find ... colourful, great expression.

They could have been roses for all I know ;) Cheers.
I think the whole point of "One Punch Man" is that he's a low grade superhero. Getting a decent background at LAGC was pretty much impossible.

As Freddie Mercury sang "I want it all" :D
He also sung "Another one bites the dust"

Active ... what a find ... colourful, great expression.
Ta @d00d

Like the vibrancy of active, shame about the exit sign, but well suits the theme
Ta Chris. I agree about the sign, but if you look through my other LAGC shots, it's the best of the bunch.

Blimey that was quick off the mark Tim!
Nicely on theme :)

Well, I'd decided to pop up there after work this evening anyway (I say after work... ;) )
Whilst up there I checked to see if we had a theme for this week, and thought. Oooh, this fits.
Shame I only had the 70-200, the 70-300 probably would have been better.

Blooming quick off the mark. Well spotted Tim - a great take for the theme.

Nice idea either the centre or the right one would work just as well on their own

Hmm very quick off the mark there Tim!

Great images that fit the theme perfectly great find

A quick submission for this week, that's for sure Tim! I didn't make the connection at first, having just dived straight into the photo.

Makes far more sense with the story behind it and I like the processing. A hard theme to yet something different than the obvious imo and you've managed it so well done.

Ps yes, the 70-300 probably would have been better :)

Makes up for the ones I've not posted yet :)

I agree, the left hand one is the weakest of the three. Suprisingly there aren't many rooftop gardens visible from the Tate.

Hmm very quick off the mark there Tim!

Great images that fit the theme perfectly great find
Thanks Mark

Perfect for the theme Tim, prefer the centre one but all suit. Well spotted !
The middle one was the closest of the 3, so is sharper.

I think I've done a few fairly obvious ones recently, so it was about time for something different :)

Well done for quick off the mark. Great idea for the theme.
Thanks Stan.

Good take on the theme, like the triptych
Ta Chris.

Hi Susie.
Thanks for the comment. The 2nd too shots are the stronger ones by far, interesting that it's split on whether the middle one of the right one is stronger.
I just thought it was interesting to see these green spaces that are normally hidden from view.

Hidden is a great idea but no matter how hard I look I can't find the train :p

She certainly is living life in th fast lane. Love the composition and lots to look at at and make up stories about (y)

Good concept for the theme and well captured with a good distribution of people around the frame without anyone being cropped. That looks like a quick machine

"hidden" - works great as a triptych. As a stand alone #3 is my favourite. Bang on theme!

"life" - well composed and nice colours. But what on earth is this vehicle?

some interesting, different takes here Tim.

Nice to know what you can see from 10th fl. Tate Modern. And that's a hot rod, mad car, mad people. :D

Life - Liking that Tm great composition loving the apparent interaction between the women and the guy at the side of the strip

Wow - that looks an amazing machine. Like the activity all around from the two guys in the striped shirts at the back to the lady .... toggers as well. Lots of points of interest. Good one Tim.

Great capture Tim, loads to look at ! Interesting subject as well, one on my bucket list !

Hidden - great original take on the theme and well done on finding three lots of hidden green:clap:
Life - you have certainly captured a great image for 'life in the fast lane' I like the movement going on with the people in the shot as well as the extraordinary machine.

Wow...that's fast! Great composition here - the young woman's animation and red hair really make the shot for me, but there is so much other good interaction between people too.
Thanks Emma, I liked this shot :)

Nice concept and good take on the theme. Is that not a song by The Eagles; Life in The Fast Lane.
You may well be right ;)

Oh but there is, the first of the three is Canon Street Station, and there are 2 EMUs on view.

It's a drag racer bernd, technically called a "rail". Designed to to a standing 1/4 mile as quickly as possible.

some interesting, different takes here Tim.

Nice to know what you can see from 10th fl. Tate Modern. And that's a hot rod, mad car, mad people. :D
Now that the Tate's extension is open, I had to go have a look (as it's 1/2 mile from work max).
As for the drag racers, yes... My kid sis used to go out with one, he had a Mk1 Escort that would do the standing quarter in sub 11 seconds at 135mph. That's 2 seconds (and 35 mph) quicker than my road bike (yes that's been run down the pod too).

Life - Liking that Tm great composition loving the apparent interaction between the women and the guy at the side of the strip
I think they probably were. She was guiding the rail back after it's burn out.

Wow - that looks an amazing machine. Like the activity all around from the two guys in the striped shirts at the back to the lady .... toggers as well. Lots of points of interest. Good one Tim.
:)

Though to be honest, not as exciting racing as circuit racing or forest stages for the spectator, but yes, something you do have to go to at least once.

Stone - Really like that Tim really like how the stone is up close and prominent in the frame great DoF.

Fauna - Great find I wouldn't want the one splatting on my windscreen!!

Stone is a good find and I like the way it is the focus of the frame (and stop complaining about the weather over here as I see blue sky there ;))

And as for Fauna that's some Dragonfly.

and I definitely can't see anything train related here :p

Nice little catch up Tim.

I like the angle of the memorial.

Nice Dragon fly too, would you get a little more detail if you lift the shadows, or would that "Blow" the clouds?

I did have a go at raising the shadows, and it looks brighter on my laptop than on this tablet...
But yes, I started to lose the sky.
Maybe I should stump up for LR CC and the adjustment brushes ;)

Or just CS5 :D

(if you don't like it say so and its history)

Love the stone pic its screaming out for a black and white conversion I think, lifting the shadows on the dragon fly works to an extent I think the example above though has gone a little to far and has created a halo around it
