Does anyone use a screen protector on their Canon 450/500D, What type is the best to go for I've been looking at the Matin polycarbonate type, also whats the best type of battery to go for as a spare, do I go for genuine Canon or an aftermarket one like the ones made by duracell or energizer.

Seeing that a replacement from Canon is only a tenner or so is it really worth the bother.

I use 7 dayshop batteries in my 30D no problems.

Canon cameras already have a "sacrificial" LCD protector, that is very replaced easily and cheaply.

Essentially you are planning to put a protector over the protector...;)

GGS screens are excellent, and I'd recommend them in most instances, but not when Canon essentially designs a protector already that's readily replaceable.

Huh, I thought I replied to this, unless it was a different thread.

mine came with a Delkin screen protector, which I removed after 5 minutes. It's a faff using the screen and then using the VF as you have to close the cover. The buttons also feel wrong and its just generally a tacky feel.

1 of my 20D's has had a screen protector on the LCD cover for 3 years, it currently has a huge crack in it from being knocked while shooting a gig (its in a lower corner so doesnt effect anything), one day ill get round to replacing it

my other 20D has had no protector on it in 2 years, not a mark on it - and my camera's have been knocked about

so as far as a screen protector goes? not worth the bother..

^Agreed

IMHO, if you knock a camera hard enough to b****r the screen, it'll probably damage the more sensitive bits inside anyway.

A friend of mine had his 450D bounced across several metres of concrete and it still lives on...

I put a Zagg invisible shield on my 450d screen, had one on my iphone and I was really impressed with it, so bought another and cut it to size.
