The advent of video on DSLRs is to some a rather strange idea; after all still cameras are for taking photographs and video cameras or for movies. Yet this additional function has created a problem in that you cannot use the optical viewfinder of the DSLR when in movie mode, you instead use the LCD screen. But the screen isnt that easy to see so LCD screen magnifiers were introduced to making filming easier. But is this of interest to disabled photographers?
Well if you are visually impaired yes as these devices also act as a magnifier often with up to 2.5x magnification, not an awful lot but of help to many people with poor vision.
There are a growing number of these devices around the Genus Loupe LCD Viewfinder being just one example. These aids appear to be widely available so talk to your local dealer and also search the web. Be sure to try the device out before you buy it as it may not work for you.
Has anyone out there with a visual impairment tried this combination? How did you get on with it? Has anyone experience of using any other similar device?
