Hi all, just want to know how all you guys and girls set the brightness on your lcd viewer screen to determine what the shot really looks like, this my sound silly but obviously if the lcd brightness is low the shot will look dark and to high will make the shot look to bright therefore can confuse you with what settings to use, so how do you guys set yours, cheers Guy.

Simple answer - set the screen however bright you want, but never use it to judge the exposure of a shot - that's what the histogram and blinkies are for.

I've set it so it matches my editing screen, not that it matters much as when it's outdoors it's useless! I only use it for checking blinkies and critical sharpness where necessary.

When I first purchased my slr, I never knew what to set it on, so I just left it 1/2 way, or in the centre.

This.

The displays on older medium format digital backs don't compare to modern DSLR displays so I have mine turned as bright as possible to see the histogram in bright conditions.
