Im looking for a new lawnmower. Currently i have a petrol self propelled mower however its getting old and takes more work each year to maintain it.

The garden is a small front garden( now got my back garden with chips and slabs for the dogs). .

Im undecided between another petrol mower or try a battery operated one so im looking for opinions whether to go petrol or battery power.

Anyone use a battery mower who can give an opinion?

Need a new mower , petrol or battery?

Sadly my Honda izzy 16" petrol mower has cut its last lawn. Have repaired the metal deck a few times with fibreglass but a big piece of the deck came off today :( Had it for 17 years so can't complain I suppose, Could get a new deck but that's £150, need a new blade and other bits so not worth...

I have both.

If you have small level lawn(s) then it’s a no brained to get electric, especially if you have other power tools using the same battery.

If you need self propelled then I thin petrol is the answer because there aren’t any mainstream self-prop electrics yet.

Between those two extremes it all depends …

Small front and tiny back lawns here - mains Flymo. Now on our second in 30+ years so the first one lasted well (25+ years).

As Richard says it depends on the size of your lawn. I giot fed up getting the Flymo electric cable roujnd my legs and bouth a Moutnfield petrol mower.

If you have a Screwfix near you they sometimes have them on offer but are good on price anyway. We have a back and front lawn so it's worth it. I also do our (the council's) grass verge because they only do it every 3 months or so to save money. It's got a bit expensive buying 4-star for it these days. I said to a neighbour a few days ago that I can barely afford to mow our lawns.
