Lastolite Panoramic Background - Any Good?

Have you checked the price?

I use a 6x7 hilite.... was a lot of cash but is well worthwhile for the endless uses of it- plus a lot more simpler to put up/put away..... ive also got 6x7 train that fits it or can be standalone for white black blue and green... very simple to light and get some great pics

the panoramic backing looked a lot more hassle and would be harder to illuminate consistently but then could get different results...

Ive seen one in use and they look great with the black option. You just need to light the subject properly without any spill onto the background. Not cheep but very useful for larger groups which is always an issue with the HiLite(Ive had three)

Thats my dilemma. Recently been getting more 'smaller groups' wanting sessions, and getting 5 -8 people in front of something is a challenge. As you can have the sides folded (so to speak) it will still fit in house, whereas a normal large backdrop would not. I can see it being very good, whereas the hilite will be an issue for a shot like yesterday with 7 people.

Keen to see results with the white one.

Try it! I have a 2m background and 3 *** across is about as good as u can get.

Not sure what the asterisks mean, however i have a 8x7 Hi-lite, and i have had 10 people on it at one time, in 3 rows of 5. 3 and 2, and i am confident had i needed too i could've gotten another couple on it as well.

iphone...

Was looking at 6x7, trouble is I am not keen on having 3 rows, prefer 1 or 2 at max, hence looking atthis.

I've had one for a while and I think it's great.

I've got both the black and the green fabrics.

This really is 'horses for courses' though.

I have a 6x7 and an 8x7 Hilite as well as the panoramic. I generally use the Hilites for white backgrounds and the panoramic for black or green screen and generally for larger events.

There's an 8x7 Hi-lite and floor in the classifieds ;)

Have a feeling that would be a little too big for some houses!

I have used it a fair bit in smaller houses, including my own, surely you would have more of a problem with the panoramic background in smaller houses, size wise i mean ?

My thinking is that the hilite is all or nothing, it fits or it won't but the panoramic can be adjusted or angled, maybe even using a corner of a room.

Mmm well i suppose horses for courses, i can see both sides, the advantage of the Hi-lite for me was being lit from the inside, which is ideal for shooting in small spaces, with the panoramic even in smaller spaces you would have to light the background evenly (if it's white that is) which is much more difficult in a room say 12x14, you can also flip the Hi-lite width or length ways.

I know the solution, both!!!

I have the chromakey version and it's superb, invaluable for our souvenir work at the National Coal Mining museum. I also use a hilite for smaller events. I do have a question though, does anyone know if the panoramic backcloth is washable? I don't want mine falling apart in the washer, got a big fireworks event tomorrow night!

Do you have enough height for the panoramic?

My friend has one of these, he finds it great for prom shots, it will be very big in a house, too big i would say, studio space fine.

height will be an issue on the Panoramic, you want get it up in a house, theres a 9x7 pop up in the classified ads

Is their a floor available for this yet ?
