LAST PLACE I EXPECTED TO SEE ONE OF THESE

That is a neat idea yes and one that could be adapted to various uses to make you recycle more.

I'm not sure if it's such a good plan.
I have friends who live in Marmaris, and the country in general seems to have a staggering amount of abandoned cats and dogs roaming.
These machines aren't going to address that problem in any lasting fashion.

Don't worry Ruth all the animal charities just ship them over here, like we have enough room for our own unwanted pets :(

The machines could be made to do other things, 1 plastic bottle = 1 credit, X credits = cash for good causes.

I take it there's a big blade on the inside that falls down and severs the heads of the manky little stray moggies that stick their nibs in:mad:

In Turkey they periodically round them up and destroy them.

Really? That's so sad :(
When we were there, there were a couple of cats and kittens that were living in the bushes next to the complex's restaurant, they were so cute to watch.
Mind you, I don't have to live with loads of them though

Yeah saw that too. I'd like to say it doesn't surprise me, but it doesn't :(

Why not do both. Feeding the homeless, stray animals and saving a little bit of the planet.

Shouldn't there be some uplifting music with that? "lol:

That's just ridiculous.

Ending conflict, hunger and suffering should be the minimum.

Then it's puppies, kittens and polar bears.

wheres the geezer from the kebab shop with the big fishing net ,when you need him .

saying that have you ever looked at them big rolls of kebab meat turning on the spit and thought "WHERES THE EYES":wave::wave:

Don't forget the humble Giant Panda.
I know they're stupid, but they're cute!

I think it's a terrible idea !!!
I love animals, I'm 100% behind helping strays but those machines are seriously ill thought out IMO :(

OK, they'll encourage people to recycle - instant gratification and all that - but beyond that, all I can see are problems coming from them.

> They're not going to help with the underlying issue of strays, the only way to deal with that is through education and some sort of neutering programme.
> I can see a vermin problem building up with the inevitable spilled food that finds its way into places inaccessible to cats or dogs.
> Are business owners and residents really going to want a 'stray animal' feeding station on their doorstep long term? Yes, it sounds sweet, but the reality is going to be animals congregating around the machines, fighting over food, making noise to get attention and a build up of animal 'waste' around that area.
> How long will it be before somebody tries to pet or hand feed a feral animal and ends up being bitten?
> Strays are going to become dependent on them for a source of food and if / when the machines get decommissioned are going to be left in a worse position than they are now.

And that's just off the top of my head.
Given a bit more time I'm sure I could come up with another load of reasons why I think it's a ridiculous plan :D
