I guess we have some real techy guys on here. We do a lot of text printing, not much colour work, so would i be better buying a laser printer, or inkjet, my Canon has just packed in.
Which could you recomend for me.

Laser - no question for text. No idea what's currently good though....

If it's lots of text, always laser. B&W laser will be cheapest.

:plusone: For a laser if it's for text. I have a little Samsung ML-1660 series laser to handle plain text and an A3 Canon inkjet for colour and photo stuff.

Is the Samsung good. What about the costs of running them.

I just got a Brother HL-2135w (wireless) mono laser http://www.amazon.co.uk/Brother-HL-2135W-Laser-Wireless-Printer/dp/B0085FM7WG for similar reasons. I'm delighted with it so far. Running cost although I've not needed a toner or drum yet I found this to add to my favourites when I need it >> http://www.stinkyinkshop.co.uk/brother/toner-cartridges/brother-hl2135w and drums when needed on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Drum-Unit...omputing_Toner_Cartridges&hash=item5d439df30f

I think it will work out a lot cheaper than colour inkjets if colour printing is not your thing.

Laser here Samsung ML-1865W being wireless i can print from my iMac and iPad from another room

For text, the Samsung I have is fine - not so good for photos! (Using proper laser photo paper.) Hard to see with the naked eye but the laser prints are slightly crisper through a loupe than inkjet prints.

I'd be interested to know how modern colour laser printers compare to a good inkjet for photo printing. I last tried a colour laser about 6 years ago, and whilst it was fine for 'business & presentation' graphics, it was clearly rubbish in comparison to an inkjet for photo printing.

Maybe that's changed in the 6 years.
