Large text on a large print help please

Hi all, i need to make a large print (54"x36") with text which overays the image. Am i right inthinking that all i need to do is resize the image to 54x36 and then use the text tool in CS5? i have tried it this way with a font size of 300 and it looks fine, i'm just worried it will not look right when printed out. Also it's my first print this big, what dpi would you recoment?

Talk to the print supplier and see what they recommend. They might just want a full res (as in the pixel dimensions the camera gives) file that they will then upscale to match the print size. If you're doing the upscaling, they'll be able to advise as to resolution.
