Hey guys, I am wondering where is the best and possibly the cheapest to get some 5x4 film.

I am particularly looking to get:

Portra 160
Ilford HP5

Everywhere I am looking its almost £40.00 for a box of portra :(

That's pretty much the best price you'll find from all the usual retailers, unless you come across somebody shipping out outdated stock or someone on ebay clearing their old stock.

Still, look on the positive side, at least at £4 a shot it does make you slow down and take your time before pressing the shutter

I noticed that almost everywhere is the same type of pricing, I was hoping for a cheaper site possibly, oh well...

Well taking my time is the beauty of large format in my opinion.

There is someone selling 10 sheet boxes of Velvia 50 at the moment for £20 delivered. A couple of weeks ago he had eighty or so left, I'm not sure what it'll be down to now. The film is expired by three years, but been frozen since and I've had no problems with it thus far.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll PM contact details :)

Thats the guy on ebay isn't it? He is doing them for £15.00 now actually if the price changed.

Its slide film though, I don't want slide film sadly.

Yes unfortunately those prices are about standard now. Ilford HP5+ is a lovely film though. Well worth it.

Absolutely is indeed, I have about 40 sheets left so it should keep me going for a little while yet :)

Adox CHS 25 (which is not the easiest of B&W films to shoot in harsh conditions) can be had from AGPhotographic for £30 ish for 50 sheets.

I might give it a try mate, thank you, this could be an interesting film.

Shameless self-pimp :D

All shot on adox CHS25 or CHS50 apart from the colour shots (obviously) which came up in the search for some reason...

I really like Adox film personally. Was recommended years ago to me by Gandhi, and other than Acros 100, it's the only B&W film I shoot. CHS25 is quite fragile compared to the others, so a gentle dev process is favored.
