so whats a barmpot then?apart from a nutter. is it a pot for cooking COBS in?

Teacake you wazzocks!
Baps are smaller
Cobs are bigger
Bread rolls are long n thin, as are rolls
A muffin is a type of bun, and a barm??? Made up name!
Flour Power
Its a barm, or barm cake doncha know!! a bap is the same but smaller, a tea cake has currants in it, and a roll is longer and narrower [like a soft baguette, the sort ht dogs are served in], a cob is the same but with a crispy chewy crust, like a baguette.... tch!! As if you have to ask![]()
so why dont cobblers make COBS instea:bonk:d of bakers?

That's the most sense that I've read in this thread.
Everything spot on, except the roll bit, theyre not *always* long...they can be small barms![]()

Altho Dave, it wont happen often! Asking a Northerner....for some reason the people down south get confused when they come up north, so they call them tea-cakes [and have current tea-cakes. This is a lot of time when you ask for a Tea-Cake in Barnsley, they'll ask if its a fruit one or not.So why have cafes from Ayr in scotland to Walton in Essex and newport in Wales served me 'toasted teacakes'...with currants in???they are barms!! Ask any northerner!
Here in Denver, we call it bread.
