Yes
Looks like my laptop has died, any suggestions for something decent that will handle Lightroom 2 and/or CS3/4.

Is it worth considering a Mac? I've always been a pc user would this be the time to make the leap?

You could check out the new macbooks probably being launched today :)

That'll be TONIGHT if you live in the UK.

6PM GMT if you're desperate. Pretty sure Engadget/TUAW/Gizmodo will be liveblogging it.

I myself prefer to wait later in the evening and watch the recorded keynote, but that's cos I'm not desperate :p

There are some cracking deals around at the moment on all sorts of computers. OK I hate to say it but check out PC world. Some have buy now pay later offers. Also check out the Dell web site. They are pushing their Inspiron's laptops.

I'd suggest if you go the PC route, if you can get at least 2 Gb RAM that would help with Photoshop, and the fastest processor you can afford. Oh and yes a big hard drive.

Best thing you can do is work out how much you can spend at the very most and then go spec a laptop that gives you the best bang for your buck. Dells website lets you spec your own laptop so you can see how far your cash will take you.

I'll have a wade through PCW, maybe I'll seek out one of their knowlegeable staff to offer me some advice.

On the other hand, maybe not

Ah, 'tis a noble quest. Be sure to stock up on supplies and to take your offspring with you so that they may continue the quest in your name long after you're gone............

I have just bought myself a top spec Dell Studio 17 and its amazing. Also its a 17 inch screen laptop and has a 512mb gfx card 4gb ram and the best Intel CPU on the market.

Its great for Lightroom crunching :)

Flash, I got a Dell Inspiron 1720, good spec and a good price from PCW.........

I bought an Asus F8SG, and it's great, Only prob I have is that since FF3 my fingerprint reader treats every login as 1 firefox login rather than identifying the correct site.

Nice looking machine though and the 14" is just the right size IMO

Yeh you need a Laptop with 7.5mhz of hard disc space, 320grams of memory, You also need to upgrade your aerial and you must take a warranty to get the deal but that covers you for everything except parts and electrical faults. I must admit.. comet are worse than PCW.. I love standing listening to their BS :D

That was one I was going to ask if anyone had, the spec/price looked good. I'll have another look at it when I can :)
