I think it more likely be a mac just a shame it cost a lot more.. I am a long term mac user and i just know how it works lol
 
I would want a 17inch screen for that sort of money.

For some unknown reasons, Apple doesn't do them anymore.
We still have two MBP 17" and they are very precious!

I been offered a brand new sealed MacBook Pro 15" the £1599 version for £1150. Will this cope with LR and CC well,enough with it having a integrated Gfx sharing 1.5gb memory from system memory rather than it own memory like the £1999 version?
 
I generally wouldn't touch PC World with a s***ty stick... You'll be able to get more for your money elsewhere. Check out http://www.hotukdeals.com/search?action=search&keywords=laptop for some bargains.

For photo-editing, unfortunately "more is more". More screen-size, RAM and processor speed will all have a significant impact on Lightroom usage. Though I believe the exception (could be wrong) is fancy gaming graphics cards don't make much difference (though this doesn't affect laptops...).

I'm not a Mac-user, so can't comment about MBP's particularly.

Oh - is there a reason you want/need a laptop over a desktop?

I have a used version of that MBP. Works fine - takes a sec but handles processing fine.
 
I switched to Mac a couple years ago, in that time I'm now on my second MacBook pro, first one I dropped, cracked the screen, got the screen replaced free and then spilt a bottle of fizzy juice on that a few months later, all the keys went sticky and jammed half the time, ended up getting a new one through my home insurance and accidental damage after getting a quote to have the parts replaced.

I ended up buying the same MacBook again, 15" retina I7 256 SSD but with 16GB this time rather than 8GB or ram for around £1500

Both handled all the files I was throwing at them flawlessly. It still does to this day, its a Mid 2014 model.

In the space of a year I had 2 sony Vaio's fail on me, both hard drive failures and eventually I went to HP until that failed on me too, 3 laptops in just over a year.

I can't use windows now, I find it very unfriendly, I'm certainly no apple fan boy either, but they do just work. Im in the market for a new desktop and was looking at the 27" Imac 5k and noticed their prices just went up a few hundred pound from the last month when I looked at them.
I do love the look of the new MacBook pro but I can't justify the price, its astronomical to me right now.

So all in all Id stick with the 15" MacBook pro, it will do everything you want it to and with ease.

I have a 2010 MBP with an i7 chip, I upgraded the ram to 16Gb and stuck in a Samsung SSD and it handles CC with ease (Canon 80D files), whats the spec of the one you are looking at ? its 6 year newer than mine so should be fine. PS, its not just the spec of the machine that counts its also a well refined OS as well.
