I am hoping to get a new laptop in the very near future and i am unsure what to get . The one i have at the moment has a matt screen and i dont think its helpful in seeing my photos , are the shiney screen ones better , and does anybody have any recomendations on laptops please . :)

I think its a bit horses for courses Su

I have two laptops both with glossy screens and don't find them an issue - I like them

Others will prefer the ant-glare screens which theoretically are better for seeing the photos on the screen.

In either instance claibrating your monitor/laptop screen is going to make what you see on screen more realistic in terms of colour and brightness/exposure.

For the recommendation on a laptop there are so many factors: -

What's your budget?
Do you want Windows based or Mac OS?
What size screen? 13"; 15" 17"?
Will you use it for anything else besides photography?
