I have two laptops both with glossy screens and don't find them an issue - I like them
Others will prefer the ant-glare screens which theoretically are better for seeing the photos on the screen.
In either instance claibrating your monitor/laptop screen is going to make what you see on screen more realistic in terms of colour and brightness/exposure.
For the recommendation on a laptop there are so many factors: -
What's your budget?
Do you want Windows based or Mac OS?
What size screen? 13"; 15" 17"?
Will you use it for anything else besides photography?
