Hi all

I am looking for some help with an odd problem

I have an old Laptop running Windows Vista that the wife uses for e.mails and not much more, every time its turned on the Windows date and time is wrong, always comes on at IIRC 11 November 2006 at 00.11am

I first thought it might be the system clock but when checked that is showing the correct time, so its not that or the battery.

Anyone got any clues why Windows is not remembering the set time and how do I get it to remember the correct time and date.

Thanks

Paul

CMOS battery failure?

Agree with both CMOS battery, some are soldered to the mainboard others have a small plug on.Depends what make model.Around £5-£7 on bay.

There might be problem with the BIOS.
You can check if it is up to date by pressing 'start', type 'msinfo32' in the search box, select 'msinfo32.exe' and you'll get a pop up window.
Open 'system summary'. Note down the BIOS version and the processor and then check your PCs manufacturer's website to see if there is an update.
