Laptop reinstall vista

Hi after some advice, laptop needs a reinstall I think.

I did create restoration discs, does anyone know how to reinstall from the CDs without all the other rubbish that they include when you buy the laptop - ir just reinstall windows and drivers etc.

Next question is if I can find / borrow a Vista disc, can I use this to reinstall everything, using the licence side on the bottom of the laptop.

Would love to put W7 on it, but not sure if it'll take it and not sure I want to go the the expense and find it doesn't like it ..,

youll need an exact same version to borrow someone elses disk, if you can find an OEM it should pull the product key from the bios.

the restoration disks you created i would imagine return it to a factory state, i.e. as it was installed when you got it inc software.

Thanks Neil, I think it's vista Home premium, so if I can find someone with a copy I can borrow, I can use my SN and do a fresh install and remove all the rubbish and the hidden drive ?

Or do I need to specifically find an OEM version of home premium ??
