laptop choice, seems a good price for spec

So, looks like I really will have to go for a new laptop, the screen is now failing on top of other issues.


Looking around, at pc world, if I can go to this price

So what do you reckon?, 14" is a bit small maybe, but I want the best spec if I am spending this much, currently use elements 12, thinking about using lightroom in the future via the cc, video editing may get more serious, but may not.
 
i had a medion years ago and never had any problem
1TB hd is very handy
 
Try to get an IPS screen (i.e. one that doesn't change from light to dark as you change viewing angles). TBH 14" is too small for comfort (as is 17", though it's less difficult) and I'd recommend an external monitor if possible.

The top system will be much more responsive due to SSD. If that were mine I would want to store images externally, possibly on another 256GB SSD for editing, plus a desktop HDD for longer term.

Before you jump have a look on the HP site, we bought a touch screen desktop direct from HP and it was higher specced and cheaper than PC world with better warranty.
From experience with an HP printer their customer service is very good

A friend of mine had medion once and swore by it, not known anyone recently with one.

It does seem to be, a quick google says the medions grahics card is better than the one in the hp, but I guess these people are gaming.

I need another external drive soon as my current one is filling up. My current laptop is 17", so would be a huge change. It would have to do for now, external monitor in the future maybe.

Forgot about that option, I did find a very good one on there when I was thinking about renewing before.

Yeah the graphics card but then its powering a bigger machine + the Median whilst I7 is only dual core, the HP is quad core and has an SSD so should be nippy.

Personally I probably wouldn't go for a laptop now that doesn't at least have a small SSD to help with boot times etc. My old Dell had a 32gb SSD and a 1TB HDD and I kept looking to replace the HDD with an SSD.

Bought the H.P one of these for my daughter earlier in the week pretty decent for the money. Runs lightroom, photoshop and premier pretty well. The H.P has a quad core 8th gen processor. The other one is a 7th gen dual core so not as good a performer at all.

Well it's out of stock, the model has gone clearance as well. I don't understand there stock system, 8th gen processor but the laptop is clearance and won't come back into stock, the guy in store didn't get it either! So back to the old drawing board and look for something else.
 
The HP in your first link seems to also be ips, full HD and a great perfomance processor.
 
personally you don't need such a beefy graphics card in a laptop, if you are mobile on battery it will eat the battery.
that is more a gamers laptop spec as above, personally I would have 8gb of ram a nice SSD and budget for a decent external monitor keyboard and mouse.
 
Before thinking about an interest free credit plan do look at the terms and conditions. Quite often if you don't make all the payments within the specified time then interest charges become due, and these are usually at a very high % APR. So beware in case this applies! I never bother with interest free credit deals because of that.

No it won't the graphics card in these isn't very powerful. I bought one of these for my daughter you get about 7 hours battery using it for Lightroom and photoshop and a little more for just casual use. If you don't have dedicated graphics most laptops will use ram for graphics which is real issue when a lot of them are set to use 2-4gb when you only have 8gb of ram.
