My wife got me a new laptop for Christmas, but even till now, I have been using my old one.

Reason is that the new one comes with Windows 8 and Acer seems to have loaded a shed load of stuff on there that I don't want!

My old one from Dell also had bloatware, but Dell supplied a Windows Vista disc with it. I formatted and partitioned the drive and reinstalled Vista without all the junk and I've been very happy with it.

Acer didn't include a disc, all I see is a Windows 8 serial sticker stuck to the bottom of the laptop. It gives me the option to revert the system back to default and remove all personal details/files. But when I do that, it just goes back to how it was when I got it at Christmas, full of Acer loaded junk.

Is there a way for me to remove all of it, and just have it as stock Windows 8, even if I don't have the disc?

Do you really want windows 8 ! .I realised a long time ago that operating systems had peaked (windows xp/ 7) and that microsft/ apple are just keeping themselves in a job by launching new OS that require more and more RAM.Some people even remove some of the systems in the operating system to make it faster and more efficient.I have heard lots of complaints about W8.

I actually love Windows 8.1 very easy to use
Just go to the add remove programmes in the control panel and take out anything you don't want, just make sure it's not part of the operating system.
I currently have all of 4.8 gb of programmes on mine

+1

you'll be able to change it to windows 10 shortly ;)

I don't want to spend any money on it lol :D

Would I be able to do a clean install from a borrowed disc, as long as I have my own product key? (The little sticker on the laptop).

I'm not a big fan of windows 8, it just came with the laptop. There is a desktop mode on it, I use that more than the tile arrangement.

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade AFAIK. Alt control panel uninstall Acer crap.

you could always make a clean install with linux

that aside you should be able to source a set of W8 disks from acer if you have the key from the sticker
