Hi

The laptop battery isn't holding on to it's charge, so new one is needed I think, but I'm very reluctant to pay Sony's price for a genuine one...

It charges up okay, reads 100% on the readout, but the laptop generally lasts about 15 mins on battery power and then dies :shake:

Has anyone purchased an 'aftermarket' battery and can recommend where etc...

Thanks in advance....

I brought an eBay battery for a Toshiba laptop a few years ago, about £35. I'd say it was 'ok'. Never as good as the original battery in it's prime but less than half the price of a new genuine one and did the job. Still working ok when I sold it 18 months later.

Thanks, will have a look round, as you say a lot cheaper than a genuine

There are plenty of non eBay shops who will sell you a replacement battery very reasonably too. I did this a couple of times on an old Sony laptop that my sister owned.

Type in a search on google, you should find dozens of sites. I've had loads of aftermarket batteries for laptops, cameras and various other equiptment and never had a problem. My HP genuine laptop battery used to last about an hour. Got a 30 quid high power replacement and it now lasts about 3 and a half hours.

Great thanks.

I'd had a look on the web and there are so many different sites, it's difficult to know which are good and those to avoid. Will have a look at this site

Thanks

You will definitely get what you pay for in laptop batteries - but the Sony price is likely to be silly. We use PowerSquared replacements. They won't last quite as long as the original or keep the charge quite as long - but they are reliable and much cheaper.
