Hi Folks,

I've been looking for a laptop around the £400 mark and have come across 2 that seem to have decent spec. I am not too clued up on the nuts and bolts of laptops so i was wondering if anyone could please help me out.

I will be using this for general browsing, photo editing and office type work. I don't play games so that's not something i need to worry about and i very rarely watch anything on my laptop so i'm not too fussed about dvd quality etc.

Here are the two links and i would be delighted if someone could give a wee nudge in either direction.

If you have anything else that you could recommend then please go ahead as i'm open to any suggestions.

Regards

Both are decent enough well known makes. And to be honest for the type of use you need either would be fine. Laptop displays aren't necessarily the best for photo editing, but you can manage ok.

Personally I'd go for the Toshiba as it's the cheaper of the two and in reality I doubt you'd notice any real difference in everyday use.

Thanks Len. I was tempted by the 5 year warranty of the Packard Bell but i'm sure the Toshiba Satellite will be well made as it's one of the things most owners have mentioned when I've been trying to find reviews.

Both look good spec for the money, my four year old HP is getting creaky so have been looking around too.

Another vote for Dell

Thanks Folks i'll have a look. I bought a Medion Laptop six years ago and after just under three years it starting heating up. Called them as it was under warranty and they replced the hard drive without any hesitation. I love the customer service they provide but can't find anything with the spec i'm looking for just now for my budget.
