Yes
Can anyone who knows about these things help me. I need a laptop that will be used for business (MS office) but will have a dual purpose for image editing and mobile storage (PSCS3).
I don't do gaming.
I do need wireless internet connection.
I do need CD/DVD read/write.
I'd like a good quality screen of around 15" (17" a bit big to cart around on the train/tube/backpack).
Good battery life would be nice.
Build quality is important as it will spend some time out and about.

I'm assuming I need something like:
Core2duo
2.0+ Ghz
2 Gb RAM (minimum)
Separate graphics card (Nvidia Geforce?)
160 Gb HD or more
Vista business (or Home premium, I guess?)

I'm really struggling for budget (redundant at Christmas

) so I'm happy to buy used (pre-loved

) up to about a year old at around the £300 mark or perhaps a bit more.

Any advice about makes and models that I should be looking out for would be most appreciated (even more so if you know of one for sale). I could go onto the AV Forum but I wouldn't have a clue what to look for.

Thanks

i'll have a look round, two minutes

oh and also 2gb ram isnt a necessity RAM upgrades even in laptops are a two minute job, so you can always upgrade at a later date

Tomb378, thanks very much for looking around for me, most appreciated (hey, I've just noticed your local to me ;))

Do you know much about the Lenovo Thinkpads? I've seen a T60p with the following spec for £400, which is a bit over budget, but I had a Thinkpad provided at a previous job (T61 I think with a 14" screen) and it was quite well built.

15.4" WIDESCREEN
INTEL CORE 2 DUO T7400@2.20GHz
2GB RAM
100GB HDD
ATI MOBILITY FIREGL V5250
BLUETOOTH
WIFI
CD-RW/DVD ROM OPTICAL DRIVE

Any comment on this model?

i checked them out online, and they seem really good for the money, there built as a more business pc rather than home use, but it does mean they will take a bit more of a beating, the graphics card is also a good one for a laptop, overall i would say yes that is a very good laptop for the price, and if you are looking for more storage space, external drives are getting cheaper and cheaper.

(hey yeah we are pretty local)

Cheers, now all I have to do is take the plunge and buy it. I'll also drop you a PM.
