Anybody else enter the Take a View competition this year?

Had one of my entries shortlisted, so feeling a bit chuffed. :D

Lucky too, it was a last minute entry, a slightly different image of the same scene of one that I originally uploaded and didn't get shortlisted :thinking:

I too found out today that I've had three shortlisted which is great as I didn't expect to get anything really!

You always hope, but you never expect!

Oh well, here is to another 3 months of waiting followed by a moment of bitter disappointment! ;)
 
Yep, the waiting is going to kill me! I'm going to try and forget about the whole thing as it'll drive me mad otherwise, it's only a competition after all ;)

Great shot of the Aonach Eagach BTW (assuming the right Nick Livesey!), captures the essence of that ridge perfectly. Looks a little better than when I last traversed it in driving wind and rain leading a group that shouldn't have really been up there...:cuckoo:
 
You got the right Nick Livesey...one of my best ever days on the hill that, slow going though as it was covered in verglas! Doesn't sound like the best of days when you were up there!!!

Yes, not the best of weather to be up there in, a bit too wet and windy for a group of our size (about 16 if I recall). I realised just how precarious the situation was when I slipped on a rock and only saved myself from falling about 200ft by managing to hook my little pinky into a crack...and then when a friends bottle of coke fell out the side of his rucksack and exploded when it hit a rock after a short fall...instant image of head meeting rock! :shake:

Everyone got across without further incident, but I learned a lot and realise in hindsight I was stupid. Myself I was fine, and would do it again in the same or similar weather, but not with a large group.

Verglas is a bitch, no wonder it took you a long time, did you have crampons?

Alas no, I don't use Flickr (I do have an account but I've not posted to it for a year or two), too many images get nicked, and I've never really liked the GUI. I post quite a bit on 500px, and then I have my own website (links to both are in my sig at the top of the page in the first post). I'm currently going back through my catalogue to update a load of images on the website and get some more mountain images on there, but it'll be a little while before I get to upload them...something to keep me entertained until I get told my image for LPOTY wasn't good enough to please Charlie Waite's keen eye :lol:
 
Congratulations to you both on your acceptances. Such a great competition, I have some of the books and love them. I tried to enter but didn't manage to get anything through, but I'll keep trying for next year :)

Got one thru to the shortlist myself, if it gets thru it will be my sixth success in the competition.

We should know on 31st Oct (book published that day too, it's up on Amazon ready for pre-ordering)... Exhib starts 12th Nov at the National Theatre.

Well, the successful ones have been informed but are not allowed to talk about it until Monday! ;)
 
Which means mine didn't get beyond being shortlisted then...ho-hum, there is always next year :'(

well it seems when the times release the news of the winning images they forget to actually, print, name or even hint who won it, well done times magazine brilliant journalism!!
 
Congratulations David, you must be absolutely overjoyed...I know I would be!

I haven't got my copy of the book yet but I have an image in it which was what I hoped for this year so I'm thrilled.

Congratulations to all those on here that made the book and won awards :)
