Hello good folk of TP

:)

Ive had my 1000d about a month now, and am really enjoying it, and taking some half decent shots.

Anyway, i've got the bug and ideally would love a wider lens than my 18-55, for landscapes etc.

As you may have guessed, my budget's pretty low - about £100 really is as much as i can spend, unless you can convince me otherwise!

I would suggest the Sigma 10-20mm is what you are looking for but its a good bit over your budget (isn't it always the way in this hobby)

£320ish new, £250ish second hand unfortunately.

its not going to happen on that budget.

the 2 most popular lenses are:
canon 10-22mm
sigma 10-20mm

these are going to cost you at least double if not triple your budget and that talking 2nd hand.

you will either have to save or stick with your present lens which should do in most cases.

OK, many thanks. I shall have a looksie around and see what i can find.

Are these lenses worth the money, and would there be enough benefit to them?

Landscape isn't all about the widest angle possible. There will be plenty of stuff you can shoot with 18mm and if you do need wider you could always stitch 2 pictures together with a panorama making program.

:plusone: 18mm should be ok, I use 24mm on full frame and find it plenty wide.

Ok then, thanks for that :D shall keep on truckin' with the 18mm for now, and see what i think i need come summer.

This was taken with the 18-55 kit lens held in portrait mode , 5/6 shots stitched together in Panorama Factory.

The full image is about 30M pixels :)

as above stitching is great way of some amazing shots. I have done it from 3 images to a stitch of 11 images.

Just depends how big you imagination is at the time!
