Afternoon all,

I've just booked 2 nights at the Lands End Hotel for the start of April so I'm coming to you for some hints on what to shoot.
I'm a landscape photographer, so hopefully I've picked a good place for it! I've done a couple of quick searches on flickr and such and found an awful lot of photos of a small archway in the sea, so I'm sure I shall point the camera at that at some point. I don't mind driving around within a reasonable distance, but bearing in mind I've only got 3 days down there I don't want to spend the entire time behind the wheel.
Secondly I'll have the better half in tow, so I guess I should find at least one thing to do that involves her and not my camera if there's such a thing down there?
Finally any recommendations on places to grab some dinner?

Thanks in advance!
Jake.

Mousehole, Newlyn, St Michael's Mount, St Ives all spring to mind.

There's a few good suggestions here: http://www.shothotspot.com/hotspots/?nelat=50.099220760305066&swlat=50.043691197345204&swlng=-5.73486328125&nelng=-5.664825439453125&searchType=Drawn&kw=&place=Sennen, Cornwall, UK

You were probably seeing Enys Dodnan Arch (number 3) on flickr, which looks pretty awesome. The cliffs and rocks all look very photogenic around that part. There's also the Wreck of RMS Mulheim which could make for a cool subject.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Thanks for that link, I'll have a look through the pins :) You're correct, that is the arch I've been seeing. We're staying in the hotel on the cliff visible in a lot of these shots.

Thanks Roger, time to head onto flickr/google

St Michael s mount at sunrise /sunset is a must- just head for Marazion Near Penzance

I lived in Penzance for many years - well worth the effort

Les ;)

It is an impressive place, just need to get the timing with the tides right. On my visit there was no water so I have pretty much nothing to show

Another interesting place is the tin mines near St Just and St Agnes. And obviously Bedruthan steps... And Porthcurno beach - that looks like some surreal tropical location. On the way there stop at Hartland point - the ship-wrecker paradise.

Expect driving to be extremely slow past Penzance and St Ives.

I'll check all the tide timings prior to going so that I don't make that mistake.

I'll head over to google for those locations now!

Thans Daugirdas!

WRT traffic down there; you'll probably be OK in very early April but it'll be a different story during the school holidays and thereafter. Not sure where my Cornish tide table is - if it surfaces, I'll post the weekend times for you (if I remember).

That's great - thanks Nod! I'm hoping the poor weather we've had so far this year, and the fact it's not the holidays means it won't be too busy.

St Ives is pretty nice Jake, if you plan it right you can take the lady there, nice places to eat and then how about a nice romantic walk at Godrevy, you can cuddle the camera and watch the setting sun ;)
Seriously though, Godrevy is the opposite side of the bay to St Ives, depending on tide times theres some great sand there and monster rocks and a Lighthouse out in the sea.

Awesome - Thanks Martyn!
Some nice restaurants will have to be visited, I guess I can't have an entire relationship with the camera !

Personally, as long as you've got some good tune and company, being stuck in traffic isn't too bad as long as you're not running to a strict schedule. Just sit back, enjoy the scenery and sing along!

My sentiments exactly, I'm on a short holiday, so the last thing I'm going to do is stress about traffic.
