It's been all go with work for as long as I care to remember and with a difficult year behind me in terms of family health, I'm getting away tomorrow for a much needed break to the shore side cottage we use on Loch Sunart.

The family (lovely understanding wife and 4 kids) are heading up in the people carrier later but for starters I'll be there alone. ;)

That means a whole Land Rover, no limit on camera gear, no TV, no Wi Fi, no mobile signal and no work. Just me and my dogs enjoying the outdoors during the day and chilling by the fire with a book and a dram of an evening.

Ticks and Midgies here I come lol

The deer will be rutting - they come down to the cottage / shore of an evening. Otters and Seals are always about and I'm hoping to see the pine martens again (they live in an old tree 50 yards from the cottage) although they only seem to come out at night for jam butties so not easy to photograph. We do get Eagles (Golden and White Tailed) but they tend to be down to the luck of the draw.

I may get diddly squat but the important thing is to relax and not get too hung up on the photography as it's the same old place with the same old views and things to see.

Hope you have a great time. With luck the midges should not be too bad. They were still there, but declining, when I left Gairloch a couple of weeks ago.

The great thing about going to a place you know well, especially one as good as around Loch Sunart is you can really enjoy it without the feeling you have to get around to try to see everything.

Had a lovely relaxing time.

Didn't get quite as much Photography time as I'd planned but as much as I wanted too.

The weather was fantastic and it was a tick in the box for Golden Eagle, White Tailed Eagle, Otter and Pine Marten.

Jump leads were in the boot - for once it was me doing the jumping for somebody else though !

Hence my ;)! Wondered if anyone would notice the deliberate mistake. Then again, I rather like it with the e as well as without but given your location, I expect that's a slightly heretical thought!!!
 
I'm happy with the 'e' if it's what I've got.
