Yes
Myself and the family have been camping in Pickering, North Yorkshire this weekend. On Friday and today we saw what I think was a Lancaster bomber fly over us.
Does anyone know if there is some sort of airshow on or does this live around the Pickering area?

Cheers.

And before anyone asks, no I didn't have my camera with me.

Is there any Lancasters left flying ? I thought the last one was grounded last year.

It flew on the day of the royal wedding so it's certainly been up since last year.

I know theres several newer ones, Imean that didnt see active service, but as I'm having a dozy hangover day I may be wrong about what type plne :gag:

The BBMF has been very busy this weekend. Been over our little town today as we seem to be on its flight path.

We were at Tatteshall on the day of the royal wedding and saw them returning. I missed the fighters but managed to get the Lancaster.

Anyway, the flight was out heading South of me today, and I'm in South Lincs.

It was UK Armed Forces Day yesterday so there were flypasts going on all over the place. We had one down here plus there are extra events going on today.

Thanks for all the info. It certainly looked like a Lancaster.
Does this aircraft always fly low because on both occasions it looked very close to us.
On Friday it was flying in a NNW direction at around 2-3PM, and today it was flying in a NE direction at about 10.30AM.

I've flown in the BBMF's Lanc and we never went above 2,500-3,000ft - that was with no cloud cover. Was it cloudy over Pickering?

On Friday they did a flypast somewhere en route from Coningsby to Edinburgh - if the flypast was near Pickering it would explain why they were low when you saw them.

I live at coningsby. Saw the lanc take off in the morning about 10.30 ish yesterday when I was having a fag in the back garden, so chances are that's what you saw. Did it have 4 engines and two tails?

If not the same, then it looked very similar to the one linked in post 6.
