Is anyone thinking about taking dev equipment like the Whipsnade meet? I really can't wait to see my 5x4 results and will be shooting some Shanghai B&W :0)
Hadn't thought about it but i suppose we could.

Perhaps so Andy, however I'm sure Chris can answer for himself;)

If his response is unsuitable, I'll be on the next flight to Edinburgh, baseball bat in hand!:bat::D

Andy had it right. I thought it a nice summary of the theoretical idea of not killing animals for our food, set against the fact that she actually liked a meal with meat in it... but don't want to get too political about it!

Having had a bit of a dust-bomb disaster taking my dev kit to my sister's farm, I'm leaving it at home!

I'm taking the RB so I won't need to do any developing till I get back but if any one is taking a scanner I've got a lot to do....

@Woodsy do you want a couple of boxes of Across from Japan? Any one else?

I'd be keen for some form of order from Japan, yes. Exactly what, I'm undecided atm. What's the consensus regarding where to order from?

I think the only thing I'd get from JE is Acros, the price difference in chrome's isn't that high vs Maco. Someone else can run the order from Maco if needed.

Apparently Countryfile want the whole country to go to the Lake District on 10 and 11 October, oh noes!!! :runaway::runaway::runaway:

Oh balls. Countryfile did a piece on the farm a couple of friends own and the sausage rolls they produce (Cinderhill Farm, available at Gloucester services on the M5) and they were inundated for about 6 weeks afterwards, particularly bad as half-term week followed the broadcast. Friends didn't complain about the extra business but I think they got about 3 hours sleep each night until demand returned to normal.

Point I'm labouring towards is that it means lots of people with kids called Tarquin and Jocasta will be roaming the hills, getting into shot and asking questions like, "why does that silly man have his head under a cloth? I'm going to kick him."

Apologies, we had a lovely dinner with beer, free spirits at the end and our guest house game us a jug of red wine when we got back to welcome us. TMBE doesn't like red wine.

Burp. :)

TBF Dean, they want folk to get out in the country everywhere, not just the Lake District. Enjoy the wine, don't bring any home it never tastes as good.

Guys,

It's looking like I won't be able to make it to this meet now, if anyone currently not attending wants to take my spot, go for it! I don't mind losing my costs.

That's such a shame Rob, do you need to make a decision yet? it's still a couple of weeks away and to be honest it won't be the same without you, also if you're not there we'll have no one to take the p*** out of.

Yeah it won't be right to try it on Andy since he and the CMS are organising it... It's your F&C duty, Rob!

I'm definetly not going to be able to attend either.....sorry folks!

I hope you're jesting, we can't be loosing the 7th and 8th most interesting members of the f&c

Real shame Rob, would have been awesome to have you there. Is there no chance you can still make it?

Doubtful, I've been given some time at Daresbury labs on SuperSTEM, starting on the Friday. Sadly it's not something I can turn down, especially when they are helping fund my PhD.

I *will* make it to the southern meet in Bristol though...

I'm sure there will be plenty more opportunities for you to hurl abuse at me at the next few meets. This time it looks like Woodsy will have to step in and take it...

Ahh roger that. Say hi to Daresbury for me :) (though a different facility iirc.)

Ok folks, I have questions and I need answers.

1. As we have had a couple of dropouts, well erm, dropping out I need to know what we are going to do. I did say that the deposit was non returnable but the balance was not mentioned. Basically if we refund Asha and Rob their £25 it will mean an extra £4 per person, is it ok with everyone to go ahead and refund?
2. Shall we book a table at the Swinside Inn for a meal on the Saturday evening. Saves cooking every night.
3. The CMS would be willing to cook a pile of pizzas, baked potatoes and suchlike easy stuff for Friday night so that as people arrive there will be food for them. Thoughts, ideas or suggestions?
4. Would it be sensible to get a central food stock of basics. Milk, bread, spreads, beans, tea, coffee, sugar and share the cost to save everyone getting their own?

Ta very glad

Andy

4) Absotively

1 Again) Oh all right then, but @Asha & @robhooley167 you owe us, you owe us big time and one day, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but one day, that debt will be called in.

1> Aye. Though I think they should be made to chip in a roll of film each :D
2> Sounds like a plan, as long as the various drivers don't mind. (I'm assuming its out of walking distance but maybe I'm wrong in which case just read this line as "Aye") ....
3> That would be lovely.
4> Yeah, happy to chip in.

Sounds like a good plan Mr Snap and CMS :0) I'm happy to chip in the extra for accommodation and of course for the food bill. The pub booking for Saturday sounds like a good plan too, always good to have a drunken discussion about random films and cameras!

I was expecting pub meals out... The only thing that gives me pause is that the Swinside is (AFAIK) quite expensive: £45 per person for dinner... yes to all the rest, certainly, and follow the majority on meals!

£20 for 3 courses according to their menu. You been talking to one of those poshos who has wine with their dinner, Chris? :D

Ah, mixed it up with the Swinside Lodge! Yup...

I think you are confusing the Swinside Lodge with the Swinside Inn, Chris. The Inn is not that expensive.

Ah, I see you have already spotted that.

Yes, yes please, if the CMS is ok with that then it'd be great and yes but please add bacon to the list as it's both basic and essential, it wouldn't be a Sunday morning in the lakes without a bacon sarnie.

Think that covers everything. :)

Table booked for 13 at the Swinside Inn for 7.30pm on the Saturday.

Bacon added to the ever increasing list of essentials.

:D

I appreciate it is slightly more problematic and it's not me that's doing it (but I will if I'm there in time) but I would like to suggest we get as much of the basic supplies like, beer, bread, beer, milk, beer, bacon, beer etc from local suppliers.

Actually we will probably get most of the shopping in at Booths in Keswick so generally speaking the grub will be local (if a little more expensive)

I believe they may well sell beer if anyone was interested.
