Legal tender transferred!

Sorry for the delay Andy, things have been a bit manic recently.

Due to your late commitment to the Film & Conventional cause you now have to share a room with Sourh East snoring champion @Strappy.

I was rather hoping to share a room with t'missus, who's used to the guttural rumblings I make when asleep but I'm sure Rob and I can come to an arrangement.

Are you a stone or a sponge, Rob?

Excellent need, we can now buy food for the children.

Would one be correct in assuming that the purple names in the OP are those confirmed as coming? If so, please turn Nikki and I purple :D

Purple... I thought it was blue. Good job I shoot a lot of black and white...:)

It's actually those who have paid a deposit and I meant to change it but forgot.

How many such rooms are there? I vaguely remember a number approximating one, which by any justice should be available to the Snaps, who are doing the heavy lifting here... ;)(y)

That depends on which way the wind is blowing

Hmm is that deposit refundable?????

@ChrisR

No, sorry you will just have to bring gas mask and ear defenders. :D By the way, is Mrs Chris going to be attending as it may make a difference to the sleeping arrangement if she is?

Your picture changed again.....

At the moment it looks like this. The names are just for example, we can change around if necessary

Bunk Room for 6
Nick (Raglansurf)
Rob Hooley
Raathistle
Asha
Donut
and a Steve

2 Bed Room
Yv

4 Bed Room
1. Dean and Mrs Dean
2. Me and the CMS
3. Woodsy and Nicci
4. Chris R and the other Steve

If Mrs Chris comes along we will need to re-align the arrangements so that one of the 4 bed rooms becomes a female dorm. Sounds a bit St Trinian's :D It isn't a problem if she does want to come just means a little rearrangement.

Just for reference, I'll take the bunk room. The Alternative looks a bit cosy with Chris :D

We may have to draw lots..... (y)

Possibly a bad time to mention this, what with all the talk about who is sleeping with who, but I'm properly excited about this trip :D

You big kid. I'll get you an ice cream when we get there. :D (Actually, so am I)

I may pop along though I'll make my own separate sleeping arrangements to avoid further complicating that part of the trip. Nearer the time, if I'm still a "Yes", I'll reach out to one or more of you for mobile nos despite the risk of patchy signals in the many valleys

Oh and yes the "créatures" that are sharing my dorm sound just fine so long as that Mr Hooleygan doesn't attempt to conduct his chemical (or any other) experiment! :D

I'm tempted to join this happy film shoot - but as I can't figure out how to upload a negative, slide or print yet I think I'll have to bow out :p

Dave

Get yourself there.........plenty of knowledgable folk ( counts me out ) who will teach all you wish to know;)

lol - actually, someone gave me an OM-10 a while back, I've no idea if it even works but he seemed to think it did

Consider me a maybe then and I'll see if I can put a film through it to find out

Errr - how do we share though? I (obviously) don't have a scanner etc. Maybe I can shoot digital as a back-up ;)

Dave

Assuming C41 35mm colour, you can get process and scan, low res over-sharpened from some big Asdas for £3 per roll, much better from Photo Express in Hull for £5 per roll, less TP discount. From then on it's (JPG) workflow as per normal...

So bloody well get yourself along!! As Chris says, get any of the developers to scan to digital for you as part of the processing then you can edit/upload as normal.

If you bring digital be sure to attach à long, very heavy lens.....we'll use it as ballast in @Andysnap Andys backpack to ensure hé gets à good workout climbing them fells:D

I'm not sure what my travel situation is likely to be, could I possibly blag a lift from Kendal or Penrith off somebody? More than happy to contribute to fuel etc

Ooh that's interesting - thanks :)

And please believe me that I'm not being a funny b****r at all here, cos I'm not, but if you are turning images into digital and processing in your normal way (i.e. Photoshop, actions, plugins, etc.) then why shoot film in the first place? Doesn't the conversion to JPEG and then the digital processing take something away from the point of shooting film?

My first 25ish years of photography was all film, I got back my prints and that was it. Slides perhaps even moreso as the purest of representations of what I'd actually shot. Or is it that you limit your digital processing to just the kind of changes you could do in a darkroom? :)

So we have a mule to carry gear ??? FAB :D

He'd also have to carry me as I don't do hills - while the view can be awesome the photo rarely is worth the effort

Sometimes called a "figital" workflow! A few folk here go the whole wet processing hog, but most stick to the hybrid route. IMHO it's still much more fun and challenge than digital, and I can afford more pro-level cameras and better lenses that I can sell later for the same as I bought them, more or less. Personally, I'm auto-nothing at the camera end (well, maybe a meter in the camera, but most MF/LF folk don't even have that). So, in theory, a lot more thinking involved, which has to be good for the final image.

Students eh....always organiséd :p :D

I wonder what the local plod are gunna think of all these odd looking flimies stood stranded at the roadside in Penrith :D

I think it's a really good question and it makes total sense to ask it.

For me, and I don't think I'm alone on this, it's not about the final image. It's simply the fact I enjoy the process of using film more than digital. I don't really know why but I feel far more engaged with the final image from film.

I still use digital at times, especially if I particularly want a shot in colour, but that's increasingly rare.
