LADY SUE'S 52- Part 2- Together ( a funny one) page 10

All The Rage

I took this photo from outside the new shop selling IPads in Colchester. There was a queue outside which I took some pictures of but I preferred this one that I took through the window of two ladies trying out a new gadget.

Comments and critique welcome.

ahh I didn't think of that sort of rage - very good interpretation of the theme. I like the frame too.

Great minds think alike eh Sue? ;)
I too like the framing and composition of your photograph. I like too how it tells a story, certainly all the rage with the ipad, well done:thumbs: Iain

Thank you. I had to fall back on that as I couldnt find anyone angry enough

Thanks Iain. We really did have the same idea this week.

I really like this - you have caught a wonderful pose and the lighting is really good. Also your frame sets it off nicely.:clap:

I did think of the "all the rage" approach but I am so out of touch now that my children have grown up that I haven't a clue what is in fashion now. In fact I had to google IPad

Well captured, Sue - especially through a window. The composition is spot on, and you've caught the girls' expressions beautifully.

It's also a clever interpretation - I'd thought of 'all the rage', but only in connection with fashion. I never thought of fashionable gadgets. :bang:

Definitely a big  from me. :)

Hi Sue, I really like this one. It's an interesting take on the theme. The compostion is spot on and I like the colours and lighting.

Good week

Jenny

Thanks Jenny. I enjoy taking people photos and took lots in Colchester that day.

Thanks. The thing that most attracted me to this scene was the lady's naked "bump" resting on the table. There was a lot of work in the processing as the picture was taken through a window.

Thank you Jean. I was lucky that when I went to Colchester looking for a picture I came across a queue outside this shop.

What a great spot. The subject is interesting and framing is spot on. For something which must have been grabbed pretty quickly you've done a great job

Thank you Darren. It was taken quickly but I had to spend quite a lot of time in Photoshop getting rid of reflections in the glass.

Nice shot Sue, i agree with all the comments above, its well captured and shows the curiosity in the latest tech.

Thank you Chris. It was a bit of a gift finding so many people interested in something that is all the rage.Just what I was looking for walking around Colchester.

well done Sue, a clever interpretation, and an excellent image.

Great expression on the nearer girl's face - I like the story this shot tells.

Thank you John. I had to do a lot of work on it in PP.

Thank you Phil. My favourite bit of it is the womans naked "bump" resting on the table.

Well done Sue.

A great take on the theme

I love to see street candids (I know it's in a shop ;) ) but never have the nerve to get out and shoot any myself.

Andy

Rage - Nice interpretation! I looked at your image and laughed as 'all the rage' is so obvious but so illusive at the same time! I can't believe I spent so long on rage and didn't even think of all the rage! The iPad couldn't say all the rage more, everyone is talking about them (I'm not sure why?). The image and colour are very natural, I like it!

Thank you Andy. I am starting to enjoy street photography. I cant walk very well and just look like a harmless old lady so no-one usually minds me taking their photo. Sometimes I ask but other times, like this one, I just snap.

Thank you Rick. The photo isnt as natural as it looks. There is quite a lot of cloning and painting in it as there was a lot of distortion from taking it through a window. However the ladies were natural as they didnt kntice their photo being taken.

Console

This young couple were sitting in the park when I went to walk my dog ( I usually carry a camera with me). I asked if I could take their photo and would she pretend to be sad. I had to do a bit of PP to disguise the fact that she was giggling.C and C welcome

Well done for getting strangers to pose for you -before I'd read your post, I thought it looked a little like they were laughing rather than being upset. I think the problem is his grin - if he looked concerned, then you'd interpret her look as crying.

Phil

Very brave to ask complete strangers to pose for you. Shame about the giggles though :)

Thanks Phil.Yes they were just a couple of youngsters, not good actors

Hi Sue, you had a good idea for this week, but to me it looks like she is laughing. What a pity. Next time, you need to choose better actors!

Jenny

Thanks Jenny. I know I was desperate to get a photo of someone consoling and so asked these youngserts. Looking at the pics in the camera they looked OK but when I got home I could see she was giggling. I thought I'd post them anyway because I doubt I'll get anything better tomorrow. If I do I will change it.

Thanks Darren. I am quite cheeky and will chat to anyone.I didnt spot the giggles til I downloaded the pics at home. I might get a better one tomorrow. If not it sort of fits the theme "badly acted console".

got some guts to ask two strangers to post i must say. if i did that in my Local city, probs get my head kicked in and camera taken.

Any way as said they both look really happy, i looked at the pic before read the text and instantly though she is laughing. good efforts and well done for getting strangers to pose.

Full marks for bravery again Sue.

It was good of them to agree with your request. It is a pity about the giggles though.

Andy

OK. I got another couple to pose for this ( friends this time) and these two werent giggling. So

Thanks David. I live in a very friendly small town. I have found someone else to pose now. see below.

Andy

Thanks Andy. They were a sweet couple and I didnt realise they were giggling. Anyway I have now persuaded some friends to pose.

That's much better! I'd just suggest a slightly shallower depth of field - a little background blur would help to pop the foreground.

Phil

Very brave asking strangers, I wouldn't be brave enough. I do prefer the second one. The fact you can't see the expressions on the faces helps.

Love your rage shot Sue. In fact, I think this is the best that I've seen from you so far. Whatever PP you've done to reduce the reflections has worked brilliantly . . . I can't even see that you've done anything so it must be good
Yet another inspired interpretation and really nicely captured and framed.

Dirty :  The PP on this is superb. Really works well with the subject matter and again it's very nicely framed and composed.

Console : I'm undecided on. The expressions and pose are far more convincing in the second one, but I prefer the composition and general feel of the first. Such a shame about that fit of giggles.
Well done on asking them to pose for you though.

Thanks Phil. I agree about the DOF as the detail in the background isnt as obvious as I'd have liked ( its a graveyard). I might just has well blurred it.

Thanks. I think they found it amusing too so just as well you couldnt see their faces.

Thank you Sarah. I had to paint in the dark haired girls shirt and clone about half the hair on the other girl. Took me ages but worth it if it didnt notice.

This one was much easier to do- just a BW conversion.

Well done on asking them to pose for you though.

I was keen to get a photo but knew this theme would be a difficult one. Hopefully something easier this week.

Well done on your persistance to get the 'shot' Sue. The second one certainly works better. I can see the thinking behind the background, perhaps making it more prominent would have helped. Good work on (another) :gag: theme. Iain

I like both tries at console Sue, well done for getting out there and getting random models, i quite like the fact they have a snigger ready to leak out. The second go sits nicely in the frame, id rotate them a little bit more though so you have more of the furthest model in the frame.

Tough one Sue... Firstly, well done for asking, and getting strangers to pose for you. It's a shame they were giggling and smiling... I agree that had he looked more concerned it would have worked better. The second is more apt for the theme, but as has been said, the DOF could do with being shallower

Thanks Iain. They are just OK this week. I'm not pleased with either of them.

Thanks John. Not very good this week I'm afraid. I found this week hard. I already have one for "Distant".

I'm very impressed that you have the nerve to ask strangers to pose for you - well done. The composition is very good.

The second is better because you can't see the giggles, but less DOF would enhance it.

Another catchup Sue.

Dirty: Good striking image. Definitely conveys the theme.

Rage: Great candid. The white balance is a little warm though.

Console: The first shot, as others have said has far too much giggling :nono: but the second works much better.
